The first step in the fight to ensure meningitis survivors are not suffering alone…
We have some good news to share with you today from the Trust - Young victims of meningitis have been recognised in a new quality standard for bacterial meningitis and meningococcal septicaemia, produced by the National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence. The Meningitis Trust is committed

Does anyone know the usual recovery period for someone after Viral Meningitis at age of 43?
I am 43 and caught VM from my 15 yr old daughter, she had it quite bad but has bounced back to near enough normal after 3 weeks ( thank god). I came out in the symptoms the day after her headache started. We were both in bed with 38c+ temps and terrible headache and flu like aches and pains. I got so

A staggering 68% of parents are unaware that meningitis vaccinations do not protect their children from all forms of meningitis...
Research released earlier this week shows that a staggering 68% of mums and dads are unaware of the limitations of current vaccinations against meningitis. Although great strides have been made to protect children from some types of meningitis, there is currently no vaccine to protect against

Bog Off Viral Meningitis, I'm Back to Normal......
One of the common themes in questions about viral meningitis I see is 'when I'm going to be back to normal' or 'I just want to get back to normal'. For some people viral meningitis is a bit of an inconvenience for others, unfortunately like me, its a life changing experience full of compromises

why does my doctor tell me there are no after effects from viral meningitis???
My doctor although a sympathetic listener, insists that there are no after effects from viral meningitis, when there clearly are. I suffer from mood swings, joint pain, back pain [ from lumbar punch procedure] so severe at times that I can't even wear a belt !! and terrible short term memory loss, yet

Oh No it’s Angry Dad
I always wondered what it would be like to set up a meningitis anonymous group, you know, ‘Hi I'm Jonathan and I'm a meningitis survivor’ we could call it Meningitis Anonymous. Now you’re thinking what planet is he on and why on earth would you want an anonymous support group? Because I'm bloody angry
