Can anyone tell me what sort of op. I had? I'm getting confused by all the names. I have a scar down the centre of my front, and one that starts by my right breast goes under my arm to the back, and up to my shoulder blade. Is that an Ivor Lewis? ( I also have three little scars from my cholecystectomy

Does anyone know anything about egg-freezing when there is a risk of ovary removal?
Am due to have a laparotomy next week to remove a 15cm ovarian cyst and have division of adhesions. I had a laparoscopy in July last year and have been taking Prostap but my cysts have grown back regardless and the largest is so big this time that they cant see what it is attached to. My consultant

Ablation Availability in the UK
I have seen quite a few people here and on other forums asking similar questions. Why have they not offered me an ablation? OR Why are they offering me an AV Node Ablation and a pacemaker? This really got me wondering about why???? I have spoken to a few others about it including some in the medical

Anyone's experienced removal of both ovaries? Good or bad experiences welcome.
Hi I'm trying to decide if having both removed is the correct decision. I'm so torn and would just like a few experiences of anyone who's had it done. Surgical menopause is scaring me after my experience with Zoladex and Prostap.

Does anyone know about Parkinson's symptoms possibly brought on by an ovary removal and lack of oestrogen?
I had a visit from the Parkinson’s research nurses for a follow up visit. They asked me many questions but one that I’ve not been asked before was have I had an ovary removed. The answer is yes, but I was quite surprised at the question. I asked them why that was important but they couldn’t answer.

Oophorectomy (ovary removal surgery)
Today, I was reminded once again by my doctor/oncologist to think seriously about getting my ovaries taken out. I am very strong and I do not want to ever go against what a doctor would recommend, especially when it is in my own interest. I want to live a cancer free life. But what sacrifices a woman

Calcium, fluoxetine and vit D
Do those of you who had a surgical menopause take 1.5g of calcium on prescription, was your doctor sympathetic, did anyone take fluoxetine for night sweats and vit D supplements? I plan to see doc about this as have to go for my yearly throid test, should I anticipate a lack of understanding or resistance

Great finds!
I am so over the moon about a couple of things I bought /was given I wanted to share them. It struck me as another good theme too as I can't have found them all -- so go on: what were your amazing useful finds for us poor beleaguered ladies of the OC Order? Mine are: M&S dance pants -- like leggings

I have 3 options: Ovaries removed, Mirena coil, or Transcervical Resection of Endometrium. what are anyone elses experiences?
The gynaecologist thinks full hysterectomy perhaps too much. I have to choose by 19th December. I think he thinks that ovary removal is the best option, he said a TCRE still leaves the problem of the ovaries. I believe he means both as producers of hormones and the endometriosis around them. The ovaries

Has anyone had a prophylactic oophorectomy post-menopausally and experienced sexual problems afterwards?
I am sorry to ask such a personal question but am postmenopausal age and considering a prophylactic oophorectomy at the moment. I have searched the web but all the side-effects I can find seem to relate to premenopausal ladies, and I need this information to make a decision. I have a family history of
