Spinal anaesthesia worry!
Having a total hysterectomy, bilateral oopherectomy and excision of endometrial adhesions and endometrial nodule on uterosacral ligament. I have Stage 4 Endo. Been for my pre- op assessment and was told by the nurse that they could be giving me spinal anaesthesia too possibly. Asked why but they didn

Fasting for colon cancer, colonoscopy and polypectomy
The benefits of fasting for some types of cancer are well established, See: https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/324169.php ...but how effective is fasting for colon cancer? I fast 68 hours every month, so, when I was told I had to eat no fibre before my colonoscopy, I told the medic I would fast

Hi all I have no official diagnosis but have all the signs. I'm 44 and had a mirena coil inserted in march during hysteroscopy and polypectomy. Since then my pain is increasing 10 fold and the bleeding is brown/black mixed with red and dark clots. My tv scan 6 weeks ago showed another haemorrhagic cyst

Colonoscopy and polypectomy
I have had diverticulitis (and haemorrhoids) for years - when I get discomfort, it usually means I will need the loo within half an hour. I found a lump in my sigmoid, which was slightly uncomfortable, so I sent off the bowel screening kit and had a colonoscopy and a polypectomy (which was clipped),

FDA-Approved Treatments for HR+, HER2- Premenopausal Patients
Last week, I posted a list of FDA-approved treatments for HR+, HER2- postmenopausal US patients. Below is the list of FDA-approved treatments for HR+, HER2- premenopausal patients. I finalized this list of treatments with a Medical Oncologist at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in NY, and it is available

Post-op advice please!
I am preparing for a laparoscopic total hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo oopherectomy and excision as I have Stage 4 Endo. My operation is scheduled for August 12th and have been told that the bloating from the gases used during operation can be painful so Iāve been researching medicines. I have come

How do I know if I slip back into AF
I have had a AV Node ablation and also a PVI ablation. I think I am doing fine but how would I know if I had slipped into AF again since I am pacemaker dependent. If I ask my GP surgery they look kind of vague and change the subject. I feel my strength returning and I am able to do more but I still

I am scheduled to have a total hysterectomy with bilateral salpingo oopherectomy on August 12th. I am a bit unclear as to what you can and canāt do after the operation if it has been performed laparoscopically. I know you can lift things like kettles a d have been told to get a small travel kettle instead

update after PVI
It is now nearly two months since this was done and I am still in sinus(I think) difficult when you have had two ablations done a AV node ablation and a Pulmonary Vein Isolation. I did resume Flecanaide at 25mg each night and this seems to calm any runs I feel after I go to bed. I also suffer left

New here.
After having a thyroidectomy in 1984 I have taken levothyroxine. All seemed to be well until 7 years ago when I had an oophectomy. My levels shown in blood tests for t4 seemed to shoot up and I have now gradually got down from taking 175 mcg to 125mcg on 5 days and 100mcg on 2 days. All very well for

4 surgeries in the past year!!!
I have ovarian remnant syndrome. To make a long story short(kinda). This last surgery was a laparotomy so he could get all the pieces of ovary left. I must add I have adhesions and scar tissue well of course from previous surgeries as well as endometriosis. He told my husband immediately after surgery

Mirena coil/Hysteroscopy/Polypectomy
Iām 48 years old and been experiencing unusually heavy periods, severe cramping, passing clots etc for last 18+ months - much out of character. My periods have changed from every 28 days exactly to every 3 weeks and last for 7 days on average instead of the previous 3-5 days. I was referred to the gynaecologist

IS LUPRON AS EFFECTIVE AS OOPHERECTOMY ?
IS LUPRON AS EFFECTIVE AS OOPHERECTOMY IN LOWERING ESTROGEN? GNRH ANALOGUES ARE SYNTHETIC DECAPEPTIDES , SO WONDERING IF IT'S AS EFFECTIVE AS OOPHERECTOMY IN LOWERING TESTOSTERONE , ANDROSTENEDIONE AND ESTROGEN ? ANY THOUGHTS ON THIS WOULD BE MUCH APPRECIATED

My AF journey takes a turn for the better?
This AF business is really well described as a journey. The situation now is that following the fitting of my pacemaker (CRT-D paced at 80/130 bpm) the risk involved from any further syncope was greatly reduced which was obviously to the good but nevertheless I still didn't feel much better. As posted

Possible Ovary Removal
Hi all, could use a little advice... I am scheduled for my first lap in two weeks and was just informed by my doctors that there is a possibility they may need to remove my right ovary. It makes sense, as it is the biggest source of my pain and I can feel it at all times, I knew the removal was a possibility

BSGE referral?
Hi folks, hope everyone is having as good a day as possible! In May I was found to have stage 3 endometriosis when having a large cyst removed and partial oophorectomy. They didn't remove any endo at the time of the laprascopy and I was really only told that I'll go back to gynaecology in 3 months, see

Gallbladder removal - surgeon
I'm due to see the surgeon next week & decide whether to have the operation. I see that he is described as a "General Surgeon". I know that "Gastrointestinal Surgeons" exist & I wonder if I would be better off with one of them & should make a fuss. Not sure I'll have the nerve to put this to him.
