I'm due to see the surgeon next week & decide whether to have the operation. I see that he is described as a "General Surgeon". I know that "Gastrointestinal Surgeons" exist & I wonder if I would be better off with one of them & should make a fuss. Not sure I'll have the nerve to put this to him. I'd appreciate the thoughts of anyone who's come up against this issue or anything similar.

Pretty sure they are not going to set you up with a Surgeon that is no qualified to perform this minor surgery. This procedure is considered to be fairly easy as far as surgeries go. Good luck😀

Hi
I had mine out in October 85 when I was 20! He was a general surgeon and did a fantastic job. I took longer to recover as it was open surgery cos there was non key hole then! Good luck. Take care Lynne
I ended up with a very infected gall bladder amd had to go in to hospital for iv antibiotics. I then had my gallbladder removed by keyhole surgery and have been in great health since x
Had my gallbladder removed on Friday and it was a general surgeon that did it.
