Has anyone tried pulsed electric magnetic field therapy for PMR relief?
I've researched both
low
-
dose
naltrexone
and the magnetic field devices. They are expensive, so haven't been able to pull the trigger yet on one of those--especially since I don't know if it will help. Have started LDN (
low
-
dose
naltrexone
), but so far, no results on a dose of 3.5 mg.

LDN and PMR
Almost three months into my use of
low

dose
naltrexone
, in hopes of replacing prednisone eventually, I have learned that the power of LDN to combat inflammation, while real, is much less than prednisone, so that at 10mg of prednisone, LDN's ability to replace or even significantly supplement the steroid

Update
Thanks to the advice and information I got here I have now transferred to the rheumatology dept of my local hospital. I saw a young lady doctor who seems to understand PMR. She was very grateful for all the printouts of my blood tests and scans which I had printed and brought with me from the Private

Diabetes, pre-diabetes and a low carb diet
We bang on about cutting carbs when on pred and I thought you might be interested in this article about extremely low carb diets and reversing diabetes and weight gain. It isn't in pred patients but it does show how going low carb works and that it is sustainable on a relatively low income. The only

Should I go back on 1 or 2 mg prednisone due to fatigue?
Hello friends! After a four year term of GCA, while doing a very slow taper of prednisone l have been off of prednisone for several months. Occasionally if I’m very fatigued I take a 1 mg. I have been very fatigued for the last few days and I’m wondering if I should maybe go back on a daily 1 mg

NHS pre diabetic programme- Second Nature
This is more on the helpful pre diabetic theme, currently running. I wonder if anyone has been offered this programme? I was called up, by my surgery, for a blood test, in Dec 23, l don’t know why, possibly my age- 88. The result showed l was pre diabetic and l was immediately offered a free 9 month

Low carbs
Im 2 years in on my PMR journey with a really bad flare last July. Which took me back to the beginning. After reading on here about eating a low carb diet. I got out my 800 fast keto book and started cooking from it. Where I don’t stick to 800 I do try to be no more than 1,200 calories. And no more

Pred reduction and feelings of low blood sugar
'Morning everyone! I am using DL's slow taper and have reduced to the dose which has caused flares in the past - between 5mg and 7mg. I have been on 6mg for over a week and have noticed feelings of hunger and the associated feelings of low blood sugar plus, this morning, tightness in the neck muscles

weight loss question please
I would welcome some advice. Been on prednisone since February 2023, also on tocilizumab injections. Currently taking 7mg prednisone. I am trying to lose some of my weight gain. I tried 1500 calories a day and lost nothing. Now doing low carb but weight not moving. My daughter gets married in August

diet info please
avoided prem as long haul flights pending. Lots of increasing pain so was almost desperate to start meds when home! now day 4 on 15mg and noticeable difference. Saw GP yesterday, thinks a ( diagnosed) frozen shoulder may not be helped by Prem. See comments about low carb diet. Any advice please

Just been diagnosed with PMR 3 weeks after having Gall Bladder removed??
I’ve just been diagnosed with PMR after 3 weeks of severe pain in shoulders, arm, wrists, hips & thighs. Taking 15mg of Prednisolone & will be starting Cali-D & Alendronic in a few days. My question is and no doctor has told me yes or no is this anyway connected to my bout of gallstones and acute pancreatitis

Update on LDN
A while back I posted that I would be trying
low
-
dose
naltrexone
and would report the results. Here is an update after one month of LDN. I began taking 1.1mg of LDN in addition to my regular dose of prednisone. I had just tapered slowly to 12 1/2mg, taking 5mg at 2 AM.
