Low Dose Naltrexone (LDN)

Has anyone tried this to help get off PREDNISONE?

I have an appointment to try to get low-dose naltrexone to see if it will help as well. I can’t take Actemra because I’ve had cancer. I don’t know what to do, except to ask for help from you experts. Thank you

I’m going to try low dose naltrexone., and have an appointment at Johns Hopkins. I can’t keep going like this. My quality of life is pretty much nil. Can’t sleep…..sweat all the time. And can barely make it up the steps.

I've researched both low-dose naltrexone and the magnetic field devices. They are expensive, so haven't been able to pull the trigger yet on one of those--especially since I don't know if it will help. Have started LDN (low-dose naltrexone), but so far, no results on a dose of 3.5 mg.

But more significantly, I feel fatigued much of the day (I've been very active) and a bit depressed (I'm usually optimistic) until my low-dose naltrexone sends an endorphin rush in the afternoon. Having read the entries on adrenals, I'm thinking something along those lines is happening.

Has anyone tried LDN for PMR? One of my doctors suggested it.

For those who came on the recent 2 zooms about this topic, I'm wondering how to keep the momentum going and keep myself on the straight and narrow too. I'm considering a few options eg Meet (on Zoom) regularly eg once a month to buddy ourselves along Start a Facebook group Have a post on here where

I’m trying not to get carried away but daring to dream after so long stuck on huge amounts of Pred that I can get down to a really low dose of steroids. Watch this space!

The Doctor hasn't contacted me about it , but I eat a very healthy, low fat diet. Can Pred & a lot of worry/stress ( which i have in bucketfulls at the moment) affect our cholesterol readings?

Have to say that although I've cut down on amounts of carbs I'm not following low carb diet. I have maintained my weight (5'3"-8st8lbs), actually only increased by 3lbs since losing 6lbs due to PMR, so don't want to lose more.

I am going to talk about my experience of losing loads of weight through low-cab eating and getting my blood sugar level down from the diabetic range to 'normal' which amazed all my doctors who thought diabetes meds were the only solution.

I have also started following suggestions made by various people who responded to my post and am already following a low carb diet as defined here. I am currently looking to see if I can get Mr Mosely's recipe book. So thank you all. I will keep you informed!

I also changed my diet to low carb, this working really well. I have been following this group since I was first diagnosed, it has been such a tremendous help, from the posts to the FAQs I have got most of my queries answered so thank you all you are a life line.

At this time, TSH is high, T3 is low and T4 is normal.

I have been following a low carb / low sugar diet since then.

I am on a low carb diet which has almost removed me from the prediabetic zone but I am wondering if the glucose spikes which occur with steroid use could be the culprit.

I'm now on a much lower dose and able to have my hi-lights done again. Woohoo! I also found my skin became much more fragile and seemed 'thinner' in appearance. It took longer for scratches & cuts to heal and longer for them to stop bleeding.

Have lost a lot of weight with low carb diet so decided to try and increase muscle mass with two basic exercises. Side to side crouch with medium resistance band and another for gluts and back holding (not lifting) weights. Oh dear, now pain in hip and knee.
