Low dose naltrexone for PMR?

Has anyone tried LDN for PMR? One of my doctors suggested it.

Not for PMR - thyroid stuff and she thinks so

Read the outcomes of the studies on Methotrexate, suggest it to your doctor.

I also take Hysroxychloroquine, been off prednisone now for a week after PMR diagnosis in late february 2023.

I have a friend who had PMR which has resolved now. She had an M.D. who is also a naturopath. That doctor prescribed LDN and with it successfully weaned her off the steroids. Her PMR is in remission or resolution. She’s totally off steroids.

People mention it often in Facebook PMR forums. You can only get it on private prescription in the UK but it seems more common in the USA. I have seen hundreds of posts of people (usually young people who don't want to try steroids) recommending it but dont recall ever reading one who said it was successful in the end for PMR. My own hyposthesis is that some of these people who reckoned it worked for them didn't have PMR in the first place as they were all in their 40s. I haven't seen any research papers on the efficacy of LDN for PMR either. I'm not saying it doesn't work, I'm just saying that we know virtually nothing about it, not even anecdotal stories. We need the research
