Taking codeine unprescribed…UK
Hello I know this is not something I should be doing, but I have been reaching and begging the doctors for help with my chronic pain and they have really not been any help, I’ve finally been referred to a rheumatologist but the waiting list is so long. Anyway on one of my very bad days my friend offered

Flare up/ symptoms / need to induce period
So I’ve been on the increase of Armour for a week and a couple days. I went from 15 to 30. I take the 30mg at 6 am before any other supplements, go back to sleep. When I wake up, I take the rest of my supplements. Which is vitamin d, vata supplement from banyan botanicals (this is good for me, I’ve used

Non-surgical management of thyroid nodules - the role of ablative therapies
Many here have asked about alternatives to surgery and radioactive iodine - and in some cases, there might be some. This paper seems to be supporting two specific options. Have to say, the phrase "treatments of choice" sticks in my throat. Possibly they have been better than the depressingly bad alternative

Anyone had RAI or thyroidectomy for recurrent chronic thyroiditis?
Hello all and happy holidays. I don’t expect a reply as everyone will be busy but having had a 2 recent thyroid ultrasounds, the consultant radiologist said I had chronic thyroiditis which probably has been going on for quite a long time (don’t I know it- 2 months off work and still waiting for my body

The Nutritional Supply of Iodine and Selenium Affects Thyroid Hormone Axis Related Endpoints in Mice
Good to see some more research on these issues. I suspect a lot of the standard picture of selenium and iodine with respect to thyroid wellness requires much verification and a fair bit of revision. The continuing problem is identifying what needs to be done - and how to achieve appropriate levels

Iodine deficiency disturbs the metabolic profile and elemental composition of human breast milk
Sometimes it appears that the thyroid world divides in two - on the one hand, those who avidly promote taking iodine, sometimes in prodigious quantities, and on the other hand, those who dismiss iodine out of hand. What I consider necessary is an understanding of where you are in terms of iodine levels

Why is Urine Iodine so high?
Hello hoping someone can help as worried! I’m in the middle of hormone testing and received the following result on Urine Iodine. Can anyone explain why it’s so high? Info: on Nature Thyroid for low T3 (non autoimmune), not supplementing or anything.

Being treated for Graves' Disease and wanting to conceive
Hi! I'm new here! My husband and I were hoping to start trying for a family this year but this has now been put on hold as I try and get myself in good health after being diagnosed with Graves' disease in May 2021 (positive TRAbs at 17.5 (range 0-1.5)). I have been seeing an endocrinologist who is recommending

SOD or Autoimmune
Saw a private heptologist last night. He has narrowed all my symptoms down to 2 possibilities: Sphincter of Oddi Dysfunction (SOD) or Autoimmune Hepatitis I have to come off codeine completely, remove onions and wheat from my diet (and dairy but I'm vegan anyway) for 6 weeks and then reintroduce slowly

Burning legs
I want to appeal to all the knowledgeable RLS sufferers to see if they can help my dear husband who has been suffering from burning feet and legs. It has been diagnosed as a nerve trapped in lower spine which has been troublesome for years and is pretty wonky. He has had cortisone injections in the past

Watchful waiting
A few weeks ago I posted with a query regarding RAI or surgery to deal with a large non-toxic retrosternal goitre. Thank you to everyone that replied, I found your comments really helpful. This afternoon I saw another consultant who was a bit more forthcoming than the previous one. RAI wasn’t mentioned

Good experience!
I've moved from London to Liverpool and my main fear has been how this would impact my injection treatment for wet amd. I can't have iodine & in London I was always questioned about it & made to feel I was an outlier. I had my first injection appointment in Liverpool today & noone batted an eyelid about
