Radioactive iodine treatment, what’s it like?

Hiya. You take a little tablet like paracetamol sized caplet and stay in a room for a night or so depending on dose drinking lots of water and showering to clear radioactivity as quickly as possible. Important to suck sourz sweet to keep salivary ducts secreting else it can gather there. Forced rest really, very anticlimactic. The worst is that if they withdraw levo two weeks before and ask you to do low iodine diet you will become very hypo. Some do thyrogen injections so you don’t need to stop levo but depends on what your hospital prefers, or thinks is more beneficial. Xx

Thank you. I’m new to this, luckily I didn’t get any hypo symptoms before they took out my thyroid as even though there was thyroid cancer in and around my thyroid it was apparently still working well. I’ve got low vit D levels but I am taking alfacalcidol and calcium atm. Thanks for advice xx
