My neurologidt prescribed it to me (50mg.) to take in combination with
levodopa
. Its function should be to neutralize those enzymes that degrade
levodopa
so as to make "on" effect more lasting. It only worked for me a few months.

Miraculous Story of a person who underwent stem cell transplant in 1999
After the transplant, dyskinesias increased, so
levodopa
was reduced. Controlled-release carbidopa/
levodopa
25/100 mg was reduced to one per day and was discontinued by February 2000, 13 months after transplant. He continued to take trihexyphenidyl, selegiline, and amantadine.

I'm trying to eliminate carbidopa/
levodopa
for RLS. It has augmented to the point that I need it every 3 hrs. around the clock. Neurologist will never prescribe low dose opioid. I am substituting 50 mg pregablin for one of those doses every other time.

IPX203 ;promising new PD drug?
https://parkinsonsnewstoday.com/news/license-ipx203-extended-release-
levodopa
-parkinsons/ 1. Does anyone have any experience with this drug, perhaps participated in trials, they would share? 2. I know that some people get Rx filled in Canada. Because prices are more reasonable.

Wondering if dad has RLS instead of PD (or both?). Any RLS indicators here?
Reason being was he started on Carbidopa/
Levodopa
(Sinemet) 25/100 mg in combination with Mirapex 0.125, 2x a day as his regimen. Helped with moving faster and more precise for 2 weeks. But when both doses increased to 3x a day = hallucination side effect, taken for 5 weeks.

PD sucks
PD suspected by GP in November 2022. Confirmed by neurologist in January 2023. Tried different meds - now on rotigotine patches plus after research, I now take mucuna morning and afternoon. Supposed to provide 240mg L-Dopa each day. It helps with constipation. What bothers me most is poor

Do you keep medications in the container they are received in? Inactive Ingredients may be Active.
One of the generic carbidopa-
levodopa
brands has a filler in it that is very sensitive to moisture and light. The tablets are not enteric coated and the tablets do not have a shine like most tablets. They are manufactured and then shipped in the white aluminum sealed pill bottles.

Swapping Rasagiline for Safinamide - Hobson’s Choice or out of the frying pan and into the fire?
I have been on Rasagiline from the start. 8 years as my staple bedrock of my cocktail of PD drugs principally Ropinirole, Amantadine and of course Co-Careldopa. I have a pacemaker and take Atorvastatin and Ramipril for heart issues. Now the pharmacy says Rasagiline is in short supply in the UK and likely

Mucuna pruriens extracts
Mucuna pruriens extracts containing 15%, 40% or 99% L-dopa are being offered for sale. Does anyone know how such formulations are achieved? It seems inconceivable that in purifying L-dopa, the process can be stopped at exactly 15% or 40%. Are these concentrations achieved simply by standardising Mucuna

Medication Management
Which brings me to my point.....given the often-stated link between long term
Levodopa
use and dyskinesia, and the lack of impact these meds may have had for me, I have been giving some serious thought to reducing C/L dose, then if no impact, considering eliminating.

Prescribed him carbidopa
levodopa
. He lost what little energy he had and suffered from dizzy spells. Stopped that drug, contacted doc and his reply was I'll send a different drug but the side effects will probably be worse.

Vitamin B6: How To Test If Your P5P Is Authentic, And When It Is Important Do So
Levodopa
medication uses up a lot of vitamin B6. B6 is only present in foods in low milligram amounts, so supplementation is necessary if we are taking
levodopa
medication. Failure to do so can result in dire consequences. There's more to it however.

Review of Genetic and Gene Therapy for Parkinson’s Disease
Under treatment, the primary and major treatment is to be done with
levodopa
preparations.
Levodopa
preparations give adverse effects with increased titer doses. In combination with
levodopa
, MAO-B inhibitors and anticholinergics are also given depending on the symptoms of the disease.

Here we are, then
28 months ago, I went to my GP with minor loss of dexterity in my right thumb & forefinger, which everyone assured me was carpal tunnel. 24 months ago, I saw my neuro consultant for the first time. 18 months ago my neuro consultant told me he thought I might have Parkinsons & started me on l-dopa.

B6 - advice
I’m confused about B6. is the advice with Co-Careldopa not to take, at all. Or to take after Co-Careldopa has been absorbed. my recent blood tests showed me deficient in B6. thanks
