Finding some negatives on Berberine (I will keep digging)
EDIT March 17, 2024:
Today somebody shared a link to a two year old post of mine about a report on Berberine being neurotoxic and taking it off of my stack. Within a few months I found other information on Berberine and, using my High School educated brain, decided that Berberine definitely needed

Phosphodiesterase 9 inhibition prolongs the antiparkinsonian action of l-DOPA in parkinsonian non-human primates
https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/35461880/ These results indicate that cGMP upregulation interacts with dopamine signaling to enhance the l-DOPA reversal of parkinsonian motor disability. Therefore, striatal PDE9 inhibition may be further explored as a strategy to improve motor responses to l-DOPA in

I think I may have previously posted some of this story My first Neurologist was a brilliant doctor and brain surgeon and expert in the cardiovascular system. He was head of cardiology at a world class hospital and known around the world. My M.D. went to school with him and they were good friends

Levodopa storage
A rather dry topic but where do people store their medication in hot weather? Apparently Madopar should not be stored above 26 deg c, (79f), Sinemet- some sources say keep below 25c. As the needle now edges 30 c in the UK, and anytime on holiday in the Mediterranean or Caribbean, not easy without AC.

Pain, Stenosis, C/L and Parkinson
Cervical stenosis of the neck and spine of the back. The neck is more acute than the back. I am taking generic Caridopa / Levodopa 2 tabs 100/25 every 4 hours Taking a C/L tablet help relieve pain for 3-4 hours. I'm wondering which of these two paths seems to be more accurate? 1) C/L tablet

Rytary in Canada?
I went to see my neurologist today to discuss the possibility of switching from sinemet to Rytary, as well as from Amentadine to Gocovri. Sadly I’ve been told that neither Rytary nor Gocovri are available in Canada, since they have not been approved by Health Canada. I was really shocked when I heard

Lactobacillus and Levodopa
Has anyone seen the uTube video re the Gastro Intestinal doctor who advised against taking probiotics because of the adverse action of lactobacillus on Levodopa? I saw it recently and can't find it now - I am interested in reading further about the lactobacillus impact on Levodopa. I would appreciate

The Effect of Curcumin on Idiopathic Parkinson Disease: A Clinical and Skin Biopsy Study
Abstract There are currently no standardized therapies for Parkinson disease (PD). Curcumin shows anti-amyloidogenic properties in vitro and may be a promising treatment for PD. We evaluated the effects of curcumin supplementation on clinical scales and misfolded, phosphorylated α-synuclein (p-syn) accumulation

Carbodopa levodopa frequency and dosage
My fathers neurologist said he can only take 2 levodopa/carbodopa pills at a time but increase the frequency as needed. My father does not have an issue with the frequency, its just that 2 pills at a time are not enough. Is this doctors recommendation correct? It seems he will do so much better with

Question about levodopa/carbidopa
Hi, I'm new here, 51 yo, parkinsonian since 3 years, tremor dominant. My resting tremor hits my right hand, rigidity in my right shoulder and bradykinesia in the right side of my body. These are my symptoms. I don't have any kind of pain, postural instability or balance and gait issues probably due to
