I wonder what the effect on the person's immunity will be by taking an antibiotic every day for long term use. Unnecessary antibiotic use is contrary to standard practice. Most antibiotics are prescribed for 10 days max except for certain hard to treat infections.

The trial is based on micro dose which do not pose any threat over long term use

I was wondering what their thinking was in administering the doxycycline. Here is what it says in the clinical trial paper work: "Detailed Description:

Parkinson's disease is a progressive neurodegenerative disorder that is caused by degeneration of dopaminergic neuron in the substantia nigra. Most commonly used drug, levodopa can improve the dopamine level in brain but cannot give neuroprotection and also induces motor fluctuations and dyskinesia in many patients. Doxycycline has been shown anti-inflammatory and neuroprotective effects against Parkinson's disease on animal model. It also reduced Levodopa induced dyskinesia without compromising the motor benefits of Levodopa. Therefore, the present study is to attempt to improve the sign symptoms of Parkinson's disease by giving doxycycline along with Levodopa."

Lots of deer ticks around here, so I usually get treated a couple of times a summer for Lyme disease with doxycycline. Placebo effect or not, I feel good while and after I take it.
