update on hubby
Hubby was feeling very bad earlier in the year from what turned out to be overdosing of levodopa when they changed him to the ER madopar. This caused severe rigidity even in his throat, agitation and sundowning in the evening, and eventually he kept trying to escape in the night to try and kill himself

Do you keep medications in the container they are received in? Inactive Ingredients may be Active.
The inactive ingredients are different among generic drugs. One of the generic carbidopa-levodopa brands has a filler in it that is very sensitive to moisture and light. The tablets are not enteric coated and the tablets do not have a shine like most tablets. They are manufactured and then shipped

Here we are, then
28 months ago, I went to my GP with minor loss of dexterity in my right thumb & forefinger, which everyone assured me was carpal tunnel. 24 months ago, I saw my neuro consultant for the first time. 18 months ago my neuro consultant told me he thought I might have Parkinsons & started me on l-dopa.

Curious about whether or not topping up Levodopa to avoid off times for special occasions is a thing? Heard Michael J Fox does it. Would guess you’d have try it few times to see if it works. Any experience with this?

Can Caridopa/Levodopa reduce pain?
Is it possible for a Caridopa/Levodopa tablet to relieve pain for a period of time? I have found that taking a C/L tablet can help relieve pain for 3-4 hours. Any information is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Mucuna Please Read..do the homework
i have noticed there is a lot of confusion regarding Mucuna supplements and dosages. There are 2 good published studies (see below for links) showing wide discrepancies regarding how much actual Levodopa content is in the supplement. Due to it being a food supplement there is little testing and regulation

COMT inhibitors
Hubby is doing really well at the moment and I think one of the things that has helped has been the introduction of 1/2 a entacapone tablet taken at the same time as his madopar/ mucuna doses. According to his genetic report his COMT appeared to be one thing that was functioning normally so I was a

Started my grandmother on TTFD
I am my grandmother's primary care taker. I recently learned about HDT and decided to try it on her. Every morning I videotape her eating, which I will use to see if her condition gets better or worse over time. She is 87, having parkinson's for at least 25 years. In the last year her on-state dyskinesia

What are ‘off’ periods – and how can they impact people with Parkinson’s disease?
“The ‘off’ state can kick in when levodopa is eliminated from our body – and people begin to express motor symptoms that are related to the low amount of dopamine going to the brain.” Other types include partial ‘on’ or dose failure: “Sometimes, a dose of medication may provide incomplete relief of
