Hello from Manchester
Just to say hello - I have had a recent diagnosis of SLE - Lupus and grateful to have discovered Lupus UK - having spent too much time doom=scrolling and reading about Selena Gomez and kidney transplants. Wishing everyone a good day and positive mental health in our personal battles.

Short course of Prednisone
I have developed some ringing in my ears and exploring all kinds of reasons for why. Had an episode of Nystagmus (dizziness) in Feb but it went away. Also seeing an eye doc to make sure eyes not related to ear ringing. Still on W&W 2.5 years. WBC is at 20. Primary care doc wants me to take a 6 day

SLT for Glaucoma
I had SLT a few years ago as my pressures were in the high 20's . An easy process done in a few minutes. My pressures dropped within days and settled at around 12/14 ever since. I later had Cataracts removed which had the additional benefit of maintaining low pressures. Ganfort drops had worked

Gel nails & UV lamps
Hope this post finds you well 🙏🏽 My younger sister has recently been diagnosed with SLE and retinal vasculitis. As it’s very new to her, we are trying to adhere to any do’s and don’ts for her condition. She recently had gel nails done, forgetting about the need to not be exposed to UV rays, and is

Epsom Salt and essential oils foot soak query
just a quick enquiry. I bought these lovely Epsom salts to give myself a relaxing foot soak but then read the list of essential oils and thought they might not be so good after all. 🤦‍♀️ I take flecainide, bisoprolol, warfarin and levothyroxine. Do foot soaks mean you absorb a lot of the essential

Intramuscular Depo Injection resulting in Flare From Hell 3 days later…..
…..anyone else? Excruciating pain from actual injection site after 3 days accompanied by worse flare I’ve ever had. Maybe tomorrow will be better? PS…first couple of days my awful spinal pain lessened, also inflammation in hands. This is just completely debilitating…..and after so many many months

Posterior vitreous detachment
Yesterday feeling great for the first time in ages. Did yoga with no impact on shoulders and then a bit of weeding. Then in the evening I noticed quite a prominent floater. It was still here this morning and joined by a cloud of tiny floaters that were hardly visible. It felt wrong so I got an emergency

itchy eyes
Hi, I have itchy eyes on and off and wondered if it was to do with my thyroid or maybe an allergy. Any help would be much appreciated.

Glaucoma, prednisolone and anxiety supplements
Good morning all I am being treated for GCA and at the moment I’m on 20mg of of prednisilone, I am coping ok and trying to stay as healthy as possible, I already have glaucoma and sadly the steroids have pushed my eye pressure up, I saw my eye consultant yesterday, he is quite concerned, the operation

Has anyone had orbital decompression for graves eye disease?
Hi I have Graves eye disease and I am considering orbital decompression. I also have Graves. Will it leave scars? Will it cause numbness due to nerve damage on my face? I am told this is likely. I would like to hear from anyone who has had this surgery. Do you recommend? Thanks

Collagen
Hello all. I've been puzzled by one question for a while already... When looking to buy face cream for example I keep stumbling across wrinkle-reducing skin care products which promise great results through the use of added collagen. Having scleroderma, which is essentially an overproduction of collagen

WARNING: If you have FND and live in UK
Hi, If you live in UK and have FND you may wish to check your online medical record has not been incorrectly updated. I have had FND for over 12 years following a virus. When I was diagnosed 10 years ago, my consultant neurologist wrote a clear diagnosis letter, stating that I have a physical illness

Kindly suggest me what it is!!
Hi everyone, i have a question which is more like a concern. This is my recent OCT scan on 06/03/2023, as I'm diagnosed macular edema. And taken avastin injection in my eye. The central thickness was 219 (green part) and it remain same 219 after the inj, but the other swelling was reduced. Now my concern

filled with sadness and frustration
Taking a medication called roaccutane 20years ago has ruined my life. It has damaged my brain and i’ve been living with these awful side effects all through my 20s and 30s. I’m utterly fed up with chronic head pains, scorched sensations, cognitive problems, brain numbness/deadness, ringing in my head

I’m scared of treatment
Venetoclax and Obinutuzumab My Haematologist has suggested that I may need to start treatment with these drugs and Calquence. I’ve been on Watch & Wait since diagnosed in 2014 when WBC count was just above normal range. Now it’s about six times higher than normal range and my red cell count has gone

cataract op for glaucoma
hi. Has anyone had a cataract operation to reduce eye pressure and did it work? I have not been able to use any eye drops for over a year as developed allergy to all. Laser only reduced pressure slightly. Was told optic nerve had deteriorated slightly over 5 years. As I am 75 I thought it would be ok
