My new Neurologist says try Azilect. I'm doing fine...but
So, now I've started being monitored by a renowned movement disorder doctor and he says I should switch from Sinemet to Rytary for longer periods of control. But first I have to take Azilect for a few weeks. I told them I was also using MP and other supplements and the Sinemet works better with them

Was this patient's long history of meditation a factor in the remission of his PD?
This morning while browsing through my daily Google alert on news about Parkinson's disease, I came across this reference: "A potential case of remission of Parkinson's disease " That of course grabbed my attention. I clicked on the link and found it referred to a PubMed report on the case

52 Year old male, with PD since 2001, sugar-holic that may cause my symptoms to be worse. How about you?
Hi My name is Mark and I am 52 years old and I have been diagnosed with PD since 2001. I am at the point now where the amount of Sinemet I take is becoming too large for me to handle the side effects. I have 1-3 panic attack a day. I am wondering if anyone has more PD symptoms after eating a lot of

Stress
I haven't posted for a long time but have been reading daily and learning so much. I saw my movement disorder specialist Tuesday who offered to script a depression med with serotonin because I am feeling stressed right now. We leave for a Progeny Vacation (children and grandchildren) today I know

Enjoying what we have left
I was principal clarinetist in a semi professional orchestra for 28 years and had to give up my position after my first 4years of PD. Anxiety and inconsistency did me in. I am still very active as a jazz/contra dance Clar. and Sax player in my eighth year and am convinced that playing everyday is slowing

Is it OK to take Mucuna ALONG WITH Sinemet?
Must my dad back off/down Carbidopa-Levodopa in order to use the Mucuna Pruriens I ordered for him and am reordering since it does help sometimes? Will switching from 15% to 20% help? Will switching to powder help? Is there a better brand? He is NOT on Azilect. Is there another natural substance

combined response.
i have had severe rls for 4 years. i was originally [mis]treated by a sleep doctor and neurologist who eventually had me on Sinemet every 2 hours. you can imagine my physical state. i was told that they didn't know what was wrong with me. my present doctor was horrified by my condition and immediately

PDR (physicians desk reference): Sinemet
I have learned more about using C/L in the past 20 minutes. I just wanted to know what to expect while reducing it if mucuna pruriens makes that possible. Those night sweats that come as it wears off during the night (hyperpyrexia) and I learned that it can make you fall asleep unexpectedly and I thought

Difference between Sinemet and Madopar (Co-beneldopa)
A couple of days ago someone on this site asked me what the difference was between these two after I had posted that Sinemet made me confused whereas Madopar was almost miraculous in its effect. I'm afraid I can't find the original question but the difference is that Sinemet is ldopa combined with carbidopa

If you are trying to decide if you want to take SINEMET.
Response to the question of whether or not to start taking SINEMET..... I was diagnosed for 2 years before I started taking SINEMET. I got to the point where my husband had to help me do almost everything. SINEMET changed my life so completely in a matter of 3 days. I have been taking SINEMET and

Efficacy of PD Meds
As the result of my research, there are no PD meds currently available to slow, stop or reverse the progression of PD. The following questions then arise: 1. Why even start taking the meds? 2. Considering the known toxicity of these meds, wouldn't one be better not taking them? 3. How many who started

Protein rich food has become unenjoyable since PD
The more my case of PD advances, the less I can comfortably consume of protein-rich food. I used to eat eggs at least 4 times a week now I have eggs in the fridge going past their expiration date. I miss those 3-egg omelets for breakfast. They say to time your meals for between doses of Sinemet or the

C/L = ZZZZ?
I've been on Sinemet for about a month. All I can do is sleep! I'm not getting much done. Does this pass? Incidentally, when I picked up my refill today I found out my copay had zoomed from $1.40 to $38.45. If I had to pay cash, the price would be $1,245!! How do people afford it who have to pay out
