HIF-1α inhibition by DES.
New study below. We are 30+ years into the Lupron era, but diethylstilbestrol [DES] was used for about 45 years before that & shouldn't be entirely ignored. DES is a synthetic estrogen. The male response to high amounts of estrogen is reduced testosterone production (the presumed source of the estrogen

Just over a year ago I had what I (and the medics) thought was a heart attack. Since then the vertigo has been with me 24/7 and now I have ataxia as well. Like

Permanent AF
I have been in permanent AF since last July. My GP once stated that permanent AF is easier to manage/experience than intermitant varieties but I can't seem to find much literature on this. Any help on this would be much appreciated (I'm on the usual cocktail of bisoprolol, ramipril, rivaroxaban and glyceryl

When to dial 999 and/or go to A & E - and when to just ride it out at home?
Hi, I had a nasty 8 hour AF episode this week. It affects me badly - chest pain, nausea, dizziness, weakness - and I can hardly move. At first I thought it was fairly mild, pulse up to 140, but later it really kicked in, pulse up to 220. At that point I'd had enough and was scared and for the first time

New study below. Actually from 2016, but PubMed presumably wasn't carrying the "Clinical Nutrition ESPEN" journal back then. (Anyone ever see a copy? LOL) It's mostly an Irish study with one Canadian. A note on BMI & visceral fat: BMI is a low-tech estimate of visceral fat. All you need is weight

Hospital Review
I saw my excellent respiratory doctor yesterday and he was quite pleased with me. The QVAR is helping with the inflammation, most of the lung nodules are lymph nodes, just one slightly concerning one so I will have another scan in October, the collapsed part of my right lung has reinflated but I am to

Plasma Levels of Nitrate & PCa
5 months ago, I posted: "Non-PCa Prescription Drugs: Nitroglycerin" I use a nitroglycerine patch to improve the oxygen supply to the tumor(s). Contrary to the predominant view on the internet, cancer doesn't "hate" oxygen. My patch generates nitric oxide [NO], which dilates blood vessels & thus improves
