Heme vs Non-Heme Iron Supplements
My doctor knows NOTHING about heme
iron
, never even heard of it. I'm wondering if I can start taking it after my ferrous sulfate runs out? If so, what woud be the equivalent? Or should I stick to the non-heme supplement?

any way to increase ferritin without increasing iron saturation?
after two months of taking
iron
supplements (75mg every other night on empty stomach), my ferritin rose from 51 to 158. Unfortunately, my
iron
saturation rose from 46% to 59%. This is caused by fairly high
iron
(172) and fairly low transferrin (291), though both are within normal range.

Iron panel values - average and RLS indicated.
IMPORTANT: to obtain accurate baseline numbers, morning fasting is required for an
iron
test of all four parameters (also called an '
iron
panel'). SOURCE: Johns Hopkins University and Medical Center and The Mayo Clinic

Iron values
I finally went to the Dr and had my
iron
levels tested. My serim ferritin is 408 and my transferrin is 26%. So my basic understanding is i have to decrease the first and increase the second. How do I do this?? The issue now is that my GP has no idea what this means and how to get to correct levels.

For those of you who have tried it, what has your experience been. Overwhelmingly positive reports on here so far but my husband, whose ferritin is dire, on 4 months of 3 arrows it’s got worryingly worse June 23 Thorne bis 25mg 36.9 (30-400) Dec 23 Thorne bis 50mg for 5 months 52.3 (30-400)

How do I defeat extreme tiredness?
My brilliant haematologist checked bloods and has given me an infusion of
iron
plus daily folic acid. But still tired. Is this a symptom of CLL and/or Avalabrutinib?

Thoughts on bloods please
Your thoughts on
iron
, ferritin etc please would be greatly appreciated. I was given a trial of low dose T3 along with my 50mcg of T4 but I couldn’t tolerate it at all! Is there something I’m missing? These are my 4 point cortisol saliva results from last week.

Hi through the wonderful information on this forum - -Thank you - I’ve managed to reduce pramipexole from 3 * 0.08 tablets down to 0.5 of a 0.08 tablet a night using
iron

Vitamin timings
I also use an
iron
patch which I guess doesn’t matter time wise and for me avoids tummy problems. Thanks in anticipation and may the sun finally shine wherever you are. 🥰

pregabalin and iron
Hello, I have tried googling if there is any interaction between pregabalin and
iron
but can’t find anything. I take an
iron
tablet due to low
iron
(morning and it has not helped) but will switch to
iron
bisglycinate at night after reading posts here.

Medscape article on RLS
Current recommendations suggest investigating for a cause of
iron
deficiency if the serum ferritin level is < 50-75 µg/L. We should prescribe
iron
supplements as appropriate. If we are prescribing
iron
for
iron
deficiency anemia, one tablet daily of an oral
iron
preparation is sufficient.
