I phoned the nurse regarding treatment and she put our minds at ease by telling us that the letter reads interferon free medication, which means they won’t be giving that but epclusa, feeling scared but going in on Tuesday to hopefully get treatment, hope it works as thoughts keep going through my head

PV and repeated infections
Hi everybody. I have had PV for nearly 4 years and been on HU for 18 months. My bloods are under control. I take 500 mgs HU Monday to Friday and have no problems with it. BUT, my problem is that I have repeated infections of cystitis (which is not too bad) but cellulitis on the side of my leg, which

Medications that can affect thyroid function
FYI. Izabella Wentz recently sent out an article listing the 9 medications she believes are the most common thyroid disruptors. Those are: lithium, amiodarone, fluoride, HRT/estrogen, Proton Pump Inhibitors, Interferon, Accutane, Iodine (excess), Botox. I have previously heard that beta-blockers

Interferon and itchy toes
Hi all, this might be a daft question but I'll ask it anyway :) I've just started interferon (pegasys) and I have horribly itchy middle toes on both feet. I trained as a podiatrist but can't really decide what it is. I notice that pruritus is a side effect of interferon but it seems very localised so

Interferon vs pegInterferon
Hi all Can I please ask if anyone has moved away from normal to pegInterferon as a result of side effects and in particular, after feeling depressed? If so, did it help? Thanks Pete

Useful Presentation if you have PV
From 2017. Discusses progression risk and treatment options, including possible impact of Interferon on progression. Interestingly, there is some evidence to suggest that Pruritus may slow progression! https://youtu.be/09rxgh4PvZs (Remember that all statistics are historic and improving all the time

My "Osteoporosis" Journey
This is just copy and paste of an account I wrote to keep track of things for myself. Please note I have no medical training and I haven't checked to see if the web links at the end still work. I think most will. Adding June 2024: Importance of Vitamin C in collagen formation. Here is an article which

Interesting transcript interview with Dr Silver
He is very pro early Interferon if you don’t get that from interview! In other Presentations, he has said he expects a progression stopping drug will be discovered within 5 years. Outright cure will take longer. https://mpnforum.com/dr-richard-t-silver-the-long-view/

Am I nuts? Hoping to find a cure....
Hello All, I've followed many of the posts on this site for a few months now, but I've been somewhat reluctant to participate. Some of this reluctance comes from dealing with the emotions of so many men and their families being effected by this insidious cancer and my own situation. Some of my reluctance

Video re progression
Interferon appears only drug that might slow progression but some people can have severe side effects. Ropeginterferon, which hopefully will be available next year, is better tolerated and (I thought) more efficacious. They say the focus is on finding better drugs for MF rather than slowing progression

Interferon injection sites
Could anybody advise where I am able to inject my Interferon? I am currently doing it into my stomach but I am injecting every other day at present and my skin looks a little red despite rotating sites? Can I give it in my thighs or anywhere else there is some skin? I have tried asking a haematologist

Links to latest research
I thought it would be easier if I grouped all the links I’ve posted into one thread. Imo it’s all encouraging and uplifting. I’ve run out of time to find the link re Graft Host rejection advances, will do so later. Best Paul (Hope all the links open!) Replacing Chemo/Radiation in SCT’s https://med.stanford.edu

Hi I'm just new here, I've been diagnosed with ET nearly 12 months ago. I was 47 when first diagnosed now 48. I was put on interferon 3 times a week then increased to daily but didn't respond to it and then side effects were not good. I've just swapped to Hydrea 2 a day and I'm going ok but very tired

Alcohol intolerance. Is alcohol dehydrogenase causing our continued issues even after b12 injections?
I posted previously in regards to having issues with being able to drink any amount of alcohol without feeling like I got run over by a truck. Several others posted they also have this issue. I've been doing some research and alcohol dehydrogenase seems to pop up in several of the articles. https

A very confused update
