Inhaler flares my Anxiety
Hi all, I hope you are well! I have extrinsic asthma and at my recent asthma check up I was advised that I needed to be more strict on taking my inhalers everyday (brown 2x a day) and blue ventolin for when I feel symptoms. In the recent month I feel a lot of breathlessness in general, definitely

Thank you. Still waiting for a TP or to be put on list.
Hi everyone I posted a while ago about going for 2 days tests for a TP suitability. I wanted to say a big thank you to everyone who responded. There are too many to reply to individually so please accept my heartfelt thanks. During the tests re. decompensated liver and HCC, they found a clot in

Function of COPD nurse at GP surgery
Ive been struggling with Sob for the past two weeks. Maintenance inhaler Trelegy doesn't seem to give me relief. Booked an appoinment with COPD nurse for assistance as I'm exhausted with struggling to breathe. At the appointment COPD nurse said I should speak to the GP . She offered to change my inhaler

New to the forum Peak Flow questions
Hi and thank you for allowing me to join your forum. Q: So I've done a peak flow diary over 22 days before I speak to GP tomorrow. My average readings are between 250 and 290. Is this poor? I have a complex health history, many battles with health pros, lots of investigations and some firm diagnoses

No diagnosis
I am desparate tonight. I've woken and coughed myself fruitlessly into a panic, after spending the last 2 weeks trying to stop coughing fairly successfully. Over the last few months, I've tried to see a doctor, but only see respiratory nurses. They tried 2 courses of antibiotics with prednisolone. Wheezing

Relvar 184/22 - MART equivalent
Hi I've been on Relvar 184/22 and ventolin for a long while, I'm well controlled but still take too much Ventolin out of habit I think - Just wondering what would be an equivalent MART inhaler dose that would replace both current inhalers and in your experience is it worth investigating ths change

Fasting Insulin.
The latest Life Extension magazine has a lead article on fasting insulin. With insulin resistance, the pancreas produces increased amounts of insulin (as long as the beta cells hold out.) This is refected in fasting insulin levels. Glucose and A1c may look normal when the above strategy is working

no wheeze
I feel like the nurse isn’t listening! My daughters asthma has gradually been getting worse since Friday and taking Ventolin daily. Oxygen been around 95. Usual peek around 360 today was 220. She’s complaining of being tight but the nurse said there’s no wheeze and oxygens at 96 when at doctors so there

Palliative care
My health has taken a nose dive over this last year. My consultant has put me on palliative care. He says no more lung function tests or CT scans, a triple function inhaler instead of three inhalers and full time oxygen instead of ambulatory. What else can I expect from palliative care? What can

New adult onset asthma
Hi all, I'm a man in my early 40s of normal weight and never smoked. I've just come out of hospital with what is assumed to be a severe asthma attack. I spent 10 days in respiratory ward. My o2 got down to 89% and my peak flow down below 200. It took me a long time to turn round but now back at home

I have severe asthma which bag at 40 yr old I’m now 62. I have lots of medications tablets and inhalers etc I’m currently awaiting further tests to check copd and possible suitability for biologics. The only thing that really helps well is steroid tablets which I have at big flare ups from time to time

How could AI help in asthma care?
Hi all! I have a question for you: as an asthma patient, how do you think AI could potentially help meet needs you have that aren't currently being met? For example, I have been reflecting on how doctors could potentially use AI to more accurately diagnose, treat, and educate patients. For me personally

Clinical biomarker-based biological aging and risk of cancer in the UK Biobank
A largely Swedish study using UK data [1]. The only thing that experts agree on concerning the causes of PCA, is that risk increases with chronicological age. The new study used three different calculations of "biological" age, expecting to get a better age measure for the risk of various cancers.
