Yet another infection. 3uti and passing blood again and another course of antibiotics what a year it had been. Now on bed rest for a day or two. As per usual the junior drs at ed say well ur blood work is fine, so I remind them I'm immunosuppressed, not that hey both to look at how low my neutrophils

work capability self-assessment
Does immune suppression include this? - "Because of your physical or mental health condition or learning disability, there would be a substantial risk to the mental or physical health of any person, including you, if you were found not to have limited capability for work."

Topic of the Month: June - Oral Thrush
Oral thrush (oral candidiasis) is a yeast infection of the mouth caused by a type of fungus called Candida albicans. The infection is not contagious. The symptoms often include: • Sore, white or yellow patches in the mouth (called plaques) that can be wiped off. • A painful, burning sensation

Does anyone know of a specialist in Refractory Coeliac Disease in the UK?
I've recently been diagnosed with RCD as a result of my villi not recovering after a strict GFD for 2 years. I can't argue with the histology but I have now fully regained all my weight, have no symptoms and my blood tests for vitamins etc are ok again. Would like to find someone who really understands

Since lupus patients tend to take
immunosuppressants
they are more prone to develop it. We want your tips on how you cope with Oral Thrush. Do you have a great way of preventing it? Do you know a good way to make it clear up quicker once you have it?

Stopping Thalidomide treatment; starting Cyclophosphamide (in addition to masses of other stuff)
It was going really well, and I was getting my steroids down, with the hope of getting off some of my other
immunosuppressants
as well. Thalidomide pills are taken nightly, and they are really easy to take.

Prof Graham Hughes' April blog
A wet bank holiday. An ‘indoors’ day. Shopping? No. Go to watch Charlton Athletic (my wife’s favourite team)? Neither of us keen to get wet and cold. So, an April blog. An interesting paper was published recently in the journal Rheumatology. In a collaborative study from eight centres in Italy

Cuts & scrapes - what antiseptic can stand up to all these drugs?
Every little cut or scratch, no matter how small, erupts into a massive cut that becomes incredibly painful and takes weeks to heal-don't you just love
immunosuppressants
. Does anyone else have this problem?

Damaging Effects of Antibodies
I have been on Coumadin since 2003 and was diagnosed with APS (positive for both types of antibodies) formally in 2010. In 2011, I had, what I and my doctors believe was, a nasty APS flare after my INR mysteriously dropped to .9 despite being on my regular Coumadin dosage. Since that time, I feel that

Cyclosporin
Hiya everybod, just a quick question. It has been suggested my son starts Cyclosporin next week (assuming all pre-tests are ok). Have read all the bumf given by hospital but thought it would be good to see what other people's experience of it is. Also having a bit of a hard time deciding if going

A Basic Guide to Immunology
It is my opinion that
immunosuppressants
should not be prescribed if there is evidence that the immune system is already depressed. Azithromycin is not an immunosuppressant but it does cause immune system modulation.

Immunosuppressants - Ciclosporin and Azathioprine
I was just wondering if anyone has experience of these two
immunosuppressants
being used in combination? I have been on Ciclosporin since July 09 at varying doses to control my idiopathic urticaria /anaphylaxis which play havoc with my asthma and make me itchy and miserable.
