Acalabrutinib Safe, Effective in Ibrutinib-Intolerant CLL/SLL
“Based on these preliminary findings, we feel that acalabrutinib has promising activity in this group of patients, and safety, and it’s effective very quickly and it appears at least in the early follow-up to have durability,” said Awan, associate professor, division of hematology, department of internal

Ibrutinib-day 1
I just started
Ibrutinib
treatment as a first line treatment. My first dose was yesterday and I feel like I've been hit by a truck. My body is aching especially my legs. Extreme fatigue, headache and diarrhea. I didn't have any of these symptoms before starting treatment.

Possible side effects from Ibrutinib & Idelalisib
As
Ibrutinib
and Idelalisib become more widely used among non CLL Specialists I have some concerns that side effects from both drugs may not be covered effectively by general oncologists. Both drugs are quite effective in putting the CLL Bear to sleep and both carry unique side effects.

Watch & wait....its a love - hate relationship
I know what my treatment will be

Ibrutinib and hair loss
I am 72 years old and have been on
Ibrutinib
for 3 months now. My hair is getting a little thin (quite a bit on my brush and in the shoer. I suppose it is a side effect, but have read here that some guys have lost the greys and now have a headful of naturla, dark hair. will my hair grow again?

Treatment already!!!
I will take
Ibrutinib
for the rest of my life. I have been waiting a week for my insurance company to authorize it. This all seems so confusing to me and I have did nothing but read about this disease. My sister has had CLL for about 6 years and she is still in the wait and watch stage.

Off Ibrutinib for nearly 4 months and still OK
Have been off the
Ibrutinib
now for nearly 4 months. (After 6 months of Rituximab and 8 months on Ib which was stopped due to painful side effects) My last check up about 3 weeks ago; my blood results remained normal. Doctors very pleased. Me too.

About to start FCR
Hi everyone, I have made the decision to accept FCR arm of trial even though I'd hoped for
Ibrutinib
. I'm 46 , mutated and have been w and w for five years. I've 5 days till my treatment starts and to be honest I'm up the walls even though I know I know I could get a good long remission.

Starting Ibrutinib
Due to my non-mutated status the doctors at MDA gave me the choice of
ibrutinib
, or a trial of
ibrutinib
w/ venetoclax. I opted for the
ibrutinib
alone and will start next week.

Uncontrolled bleeding events with Ibrutinib and in general
Bleeding is a concern with patients on
Ibrutinib
but also many other patients on W&W or taking other therapies if they are also on blood thinning drugs. This is my take on the bleeding issue.

Second treatment looming
I am told
Ibrutinib
is exorbitantly expensive and as far as I can gather no trials exist in South Africa. Is further FCR an option or will it damage the bone marrow irreparably? Other than a cold and a chest infection this winter I have no real symptoms.
