NICE approves venetoclax (VENCLYXTO) with rituximab for previously treated chronic lymphocytic leukaemia (CLL) patients
Alternative options for treating second line CLL patients today typically involve continuous treatment with the targeted non-chemotherapy drug
ibrutinib
. For patients seeking a treatment free period, retreatment with a chemo-immunotherapy is the only option, which is often unsuitable.

It turns out it matters not only what meds you get but the also the order you get them in
This week we posted an interview on the CLL Society website (CLLSociety.org) with Professor Hillmen of Leeds concerning the timing of
ibrutinib
and obinutuzumab.

stopping Ibrutinib
I feel confident I will survive the bladder cancer treatment...but I feel I am in a little bit of uncharted territory as far as CLL and
ibrutinib
is concerned. I have been on
Ibrutinib
for almost 2.5 years.

Ibrutinib Side Effects
As she is unable to have a stronger chemo, hence the doctor prescribed her with
Ibrutinib
. She has started beginning of this month. Apparently, there are some side effects she is encountering and I believe some of them are quite common.

AHA--autoimmune hemolytic anemia
My husband is on Venclexta and has developed autoimmune hemolytic anemia for the second time (first time was when he was on
Ibrutinib
). First treatment was prednisone and he had a tough time getting off of it--even very gradually.

Chemo-Free Treatment Best Option for CLL Patients Under 70
Results of the phase III ECOG trial found that the combination of
ibrutinib
(Imbruvica) plus rituximab (Rituxan) came out superior to the chemotherapy and immunotherapy (chemoimmunotherapy) grouping of fludarabine, cyclophosphamide, and rituximab, known as FCR.

90 days on Ibrutinib
I am also observing the results of the trial of
Ibrutinib
and venetoclax which seem to be quite dramatic.

Foot Pain
After being on
Ibrutinib
for a year I started feeling pain and swelling in my feet. I suspect some of what I'm experiencing could be high blood pressure and some dehydration. However, I'm curious to know if others have had this experience after taking IB for a year or more?
