Rising hemocrit
Taking hydroxyurea 1000mg a day, phlebotomy once a month and hemocrit keeps rising. Has anyone had this experience? Has anything helped?

Hi New to posting on the site
I have had ET for around 8 yrs now. Thankfully I have great family support as it has caused me lots of anxiety in life. And times where I have felt unwell which affects family life and work too. I have only had hydroxyurea treatment with dose changes. Really knocked me taking 3 capsules daily for a year

Hydroxyurea and activity
I read in the warning for Hydroxyurea that you should avoid contact sports and activities that cause bruising. I plan to ask my doctor during my next visit but Iām hoping someone can help. I have ET with CALR and started HU this week. Part of staying mentally and physically healthy is a contact sport

MPN Specialists in N Ireland
I have had ET for 4 years and am on
hydroxycarbamide
. My main symptom is v bad fatigue ( which in turn affects my mood and has led to depression. My haematologist insists that that neither the ET nor the meds contribute to this. I wonder if anyone could recommend a MPN specialist in N Ireland.

Platelets low & starting Hydroxycarbamide
So it's looking like I need to be started on
hydroxycarbamide
within the next 2 weeks. I'm resigned to that fact but I am worried about the consequences of taking hydroxy. Mostly because all other levels are fine! My platelets for instance are always a constant between 299 & 340 so they're normal.

Started Hydroxy - 6 month report
Well after initially refusing
Hydroxycarbamide
when I turned 60, my haemo showed me a graph of risk of stroke - so I decided to take it! I'm pleased to report that 6 months later, taking 9x500g capsules a week, the platelet count has reduced from 620 to 334.

Hi all. Apologies for the long post. I'm in this group as my husband has PV JAK2+, he started Hydroxy chemo tablet on the 31st of Jan this year. On the 21st of Feb he was admitted to hospital with suspected pneumonia/flu, he was taken off the tablets and discharged on the Saturday not to take them again

Blood pressure
Hi, I have pcv and taking
hydroxycarbamide
and aspirin, plus I have a venesection every 3 months. I always seem to have high blood pressure, which no one seems the hospital seems concerned about, apart from me. Does anyone take tablets for high blood pressure and if so what? Many thanks George

Ginseng & hydroxyurea
It's been over a month since I started taking Ginseng and it seems to be helping with the fatigue a little and every bit counts. 1,000 mg of Panax quinquefolius in the am. This is a ginseng that is grown locally and is also known as American ginseng. It was recommended over the Siberian ginseng because

Discontinue Hydroxyurea
Had a visit with a new Hematologist who is a recognized expert in MPNs. He has recommended a different tx approach for my Polycythemia Vera. Based on my profile, he recommends discontinuing hydroxyurea and going with phlebotomy only. I am having troublesome side effects and the new doc says risks

Hydroxyurea break
I was on HU for many years and had it stop working. Switched to Anagrelide but having nasty side effects. Just wondering if anyone has had HU stop working and gone back on it after six months or a year break and had it be effective again. I asked my doctor but he didnāt know if that was a possibility
