I was prescribed
hydrea
and ever increasing doses decreased the platelets; the other bloods weren't ideal but low enough to cause some fatigue. However, the itching continued to dominate my life.

What are your thoughts about Interferon Vs. Hydroxurea?
I’m still on a low-dose aspirin but I’m just reading about it in case I need to take either in the near future, like everyone, I’m concern about the effect of
hydrea
on my pregnancy or sexual life if I may add.

Physician says he won’t order therapeutic phlebotomy for my hematocrit at 48.1 and I’m female!
My dr says
Hydrea
is what I should stay on to lower my WBC’s, RBC’s, HCT and platelets! I have been on it for a year and that hasn’t happened. He says I do not have PV because my EPO is normal. It’s very low but considered normal. Should he be basing my dx just on the EPO?

TPD - The continuing saga
In that time I must have swallowed thousands of
Hydrea
capsules. I know some medics dismiss MPN's but if I'm deemed not eligible who is ? I shall be emailing my consultant quoting Mr.Argar and asking when I can look forward to receiving my invitation for the Third Primary Dose!

Problem with inflammation of muscles
I checked and there were no interactions with
Hydrea
. I have been having a great deal of muscular inflammation and cannot get rid of it. If not Ashwagandha, then what if anything do others take to lower the pain of inflammation? One can only rest and hydrate so much. Thank you in advance!

ET and Hydrea issues along with covid shot.
Up until know I have been only taking a baby aspirin but my platelets won’t from 400 to 700 over the past few years so I was directed to start taking
Hydrea
. Started 3 months ago with one pill every other day and went down to 520 with no side effects.

Learning to live with ET and PV in California
Recently started on
Hydrea
after platelet counts reached 1,000,000. Have been having phelbotomies for several years for the PV. I'm a recent transplant from the Midwest to the Central Coast of California...arrived just before the pandemic.

I got 4 opinions before I started hydrea
It’s a scary thought to be taking a chemo drug . I am 70 still running half marathons very active and did not want this in my body. Saw specialists in NY -MA -CT And they all said this drug should be called something else because it’s not a chemo drug like other drugs for cancer. The name scares everyone

Leaving Pegasys behind
I have just started on
Hydrea
and have to admit I’m still feeling anxious. I’ve not had any medication for last 3-4 weeks and have been feeling much better so am hoping for limited side effects.

Covid-19 Antibody Test
I started
Hydrea
2 weeks after the second shot. I just had an antibody test. The result was 886 U/ml. A positive result was .8 U/ml or higher. I assume I had a good result. I hope I’m correct. If anyone knows about this, I welcome your input.

Hydrea etc
I did read somewhere that when you reach 60 you are offered
Hydrea
or other drugs, because you are more prone to clots, due to age. I'm now 65 and nothing mentioned. Could it be because I'm JAK2 negative.

I haven't written in awhile
I started aspirin and not long after that
Hydrea
. I'm not having any issues with
Hydrea
, just don't like taking it. I started having issues with with my colon. Two weeks ago I had to have surgery for severe diverticulitis. I've been through alot with this miserable stuff.

Maz: For those of us on Hydrea
Maz, I wonder if you could get some clarification from Professor Claire Harrison on the risk of Leukemic progression in the long term use of
hydrea
. I ask this question due to a reply from ‘Hunter’ to ‘Bobthecob’ on the forum. ‘The increased risk of Leukemic progression is also now known.
