Do GP's deal with your prescription and treatment once you have a diagnosis?
In a hypothetical way, say if I'm diagnosed, I presume I can see Dr Khamashta at regular intervals for check ups at my own cost but in regards to getting/accessing warfarin/
heparin
etc how does it work?

What medication options are there for aggressive APS ?
After eight years of silence from medics post stroke, and MRI for an apparent lupus attack showed extent of my stroke and number of TIAs was urgently placed on a lifetime of warfarin with a
heparin
bridge while my INR was increased, last November.

Is Aspirin Enough?
I took
Heparin
and Aspirin throughout my 2 subsequent pregnancies but now I feel like I've just been abandoned. I don't see a Consultant and no-one seems interested in how I'm doing. I would think things have changed over the last 14 years!

The one minute cure. the secret to healing virtually all diseases by Madison Cavanaugh. I have refused any prescribed medication over many
years, after lots of prescriptions for non steroid anti inflamitory tablets and 3 cortisone injections every 12 weeks ruined my health. Until i was guided to the book, The One Minute cure, this is the Must book to read. Personally in the last few weeks, following the information in this book i have regained

Oh well!
The last time I went to Papworth Thoracic Outpatients clinic the doctor said I should have a hearing test as the antibiotic Azytheromycin, which I take everyday can affect your hearing. I told him I was deaf in my left ear anyway. This morning I went to the West Suffolk Hospital for my hearing test

Professor Hughes December 2013 blog
The patient was started on anticoagulants – first
heparin
and then warfarin. Total disappearance of the headaches and chorea, improvement in the balance problems and memory loss, and, to our surprise, marked improvement in sleep pattern. And the hip pain? Very interesting.

Can you help with a research trial based in London?
Unlike warfarin, rivaroxaban does not require routine INR monitoring blood tests because it has a predictable anticoagulant effect, similar to
heparin
injections. Also, unlike warfarin, rivaroxaban does not interact with food or alcohol and has few drug interactions.

SERONEGATIVE Hughes Syndrome - by popular demand, some papers to read for further information
But the proof of the pudding lies in the response to treatment (either aspirin/clopidogrel/
heparin
or warfarin) once the decision is made to treat. Of course it can be argued that yes, other diagnoses might sometimes respond similarly, but a good physician can usually differentiate.

Warfarin vs Heparin/Fragmin 10,000 units
Has anyone else had better symptom relief/improvement on warfarin compared to
heparin
? Do some people respond better to warfarin and others
heparin
? I have been told I would need an INR of around 3.5.

Can't metabolize Coumadin (Warfarin). Anyone else have this same issue?
Heparin
is also too expensive for me to buy. I bought "More Sticky Blood" and found no answers in it. I also bought "Positive Options for Antiphospholipid Syndrome" but haven't read it yet. Does anyone else not metabolize Coumadin? Are there other options?? Really starting to get scared.

Next step along the journey...
I have a slightly underactive thyroid so I'm going to now try high dose folic acid pre conception as well as after plus low level thyroxine, aspirin and
heparin
. I had another blood test to determine how much aspirin I need.

Starting heparin and warfarin tomorrow - what can I expect?
Finally got to see a haematologist last Friday (still waiting for appt at St Thomas') and they are starting me on
heparin
and warfarin tomorrow. Bit swept away by it all. What can I expect at my appointment and will the treatment make me feel anything different?

HS and surgery: no medication? I'm worried...
Did you get medication like
heparin
or aspirin? I am Dutch and curious about how this works in your country. Because i'm worried about a surgery next week. In 2008 I was diagnosed with HS (because of a stillbirth). I've never had a thrombosis and therefore no medications (only during pregnancy).

our son has arrived and post-pregnancy question
Hi all, 2 weeks ago our son has been born after an APS pregnancy with aspirin till 36 weeks and
heparin
from 6 weeks into the pregnancy till 6 weeks after giving birth. No complications and a healthy boy, we're very happy. I was tested postive on APS after 2 miscarriages.
