Am i right in thinking that completion hemithyroidectomy will be pretty much the same as last time?
Hello, I had a
hemithyroidectomy
a few weeks ago and they found Papilliary Cancer so i am having he other side of my thyroid removed on the 28th. I understand that they will go back in the same place and just reopen up the scar that I have and remove the other side.

Hello, I have completion thyroidectomy in a few weeks following the discovery of papillary thyroid cancer in the right side of my thyroid following a
hemithyroidectomy
. I understand I will start taking Thyroxine straight after.

Just been diagnosed with Papilliary Thyroid Cancer :(
Strangely, i feel sort of relieved - i spent all morning in such an anxious state waiting for the appointment to find out the result from my
hemithyroidectomy
last week it was unbearable! My consultant was excellent and said the prognosis was 99% survivable.

My Hemithyroidectomy is on the 10th March!
Hi there, Just to say that my hemi is booked for the 10th March. Apparently they will cut all the way across my neck as they feel that a symmetrical line doesn't attract the eye and look aesthetically better than a one sided scar. Is this what others have found ? Any top tips that I may not think

I'm having a hemithyroidectomy on March 13th following 2 FNAs, one was a 2 and the other a 3. After the op, is there anything I can do ...
... to encourage the remaining part of my thyroid to function effectively? I have read that this only happens in 30% of people e.g. Do I change my diet, take any supplements etc.? I'm hoping my voice will not be affected by the op as singing is a large and enjoyable part of my life. Does anyone have

Can you request a second opinion on FNA slides?
My endo doesn't seem to want me to have any more FNA's and is suggesting a
hemithyroidectomy
. The atypical cellswere follicular ones but for whatever reason there were not enough(??) / didn't display the right characteristics(??) to be placed in the 3f category.

3 FNA's two Inconclusive one a 3a - what to do?
I'm in such a quandry as my Endo said that assuming my nodule does prove to be benign after a proper biopsy following a
hemithyroidectomy
, only 10% of people would need to have long term medication and there is about a 3% chance of damage to my vocal chords.

Veracyte Afirma Thyroid Test in UK anywhere?
My Endo has suggested an elective
hemithyroidectomy
so they can have a proper look at my nodule. The thing is that around 85% of the time the result will be benign and 85% of patients would not have needed the operation!"
