Cause of my afib
I think I may finally know the cause of my afib which I actually found out on my own. My cardio Drs didn't send complete results of the heart tests they did on me when I was in the hospital in June and told I had afib. I had chest x-rays before all that that had shown I had haziness in a lung. And first

Update following aorta valve replacement
This site and the people on it were a big help to me before my surgery so I thought I would share my experiences post surgery. It's been just over 4 weeks since surgery and so far everything has been going ok. No problems or complications post surgery. Did end up with a bonus new section of aorta that

From stent to surgery
You may have seen my previous post but to recap, mum had a heart attack on Wednesday morning. She had a couple of stents put in to a blockage and went for another angiogram today. Unfortunately there is a calcium and fat buildup which is not suitable for stenting. She has been told she will have to

Ablation recovery update
Good morning kind people, Just wanted to let you know how things are progressing, and for some advice please. It is now 9 weeks since I had my ablation, and as I have already posted, I have been having problems with my blood pressure dropping very low, and feeling as if I am going to pass out when ever

Blood thinners
Hi everyone, I have lupus and I’m going through the menopause. In March I found out I have a pulmonary embolism and a possible heart murmur. I have been on blood thinners for 4 months now. I’m loosing a lot of hair on my head but it’s growing longer on my body, eye brows and eye lashes. Is this the blood

A potentially silly question about chest pains
Hi all! So the question of if you're having chest pains with AF always comes up and, this may sound silly, but what does that really mean? What kind of chest pain? Sometimes I might get a very brief little digging pain (not very painful at all) under my breast that doesn't seem to be triggered by anything

New treatments for deadly lung disease could be revealed by 3D modeling.
A 3D bioengineered model of lung tissue built by University of Michigan researchers is poking holes in decades worth of flat, Petri dish observations into how the deadly disease pulmonary fibrosis progresses. The causes of pulmonary fibrosis are not fully understood, but the condition is marked by

Heart transplant v coping with A FIB
I have spoke to everyone before here; after surgery I was very down as most of us are and was trying to find someone I could talk to as my husband isn't very good at this. I did manage to find someone I could speak with, my health overall went up a step and I was able to do a bit more. I started a phased

Can lung cancer treatment lead to heart problems?
I had two adana carcinoma lessions removed from my right lung and had radiotherapy on my left one, last September and November respectively. I have recently been told I now have heart failure due to these procedures which has caused the enormous amount of water retention I have experienced. Has anyone

Befriending
Hello everyone! I have recently been discharged after open heart surgery and am feeling isolated. Contacted cardiac rehab but I do not fit criteria for help. Is there such a thing as a befriending service where I could speak to someone who has experienced similar? I live in South Wales. Many thanks

Heart bypass
Hi guys Looking for some advice. My Dad is having a heart bypass at Southampton hospital next Tuesday. Up until his sudden heart attack earlier this year he was a fit and healthy 65 year old. At the time of the heart attack he had two stents inserted but was told he would need bypass following scans.

Anyone know what this could be on my smart watch ECG
So I am now on flecainide and Bisoprolol for AF and SVT. I have an Apple Watch that does my ECGs which my cardiologist has the results from. I have been experiencing strange beats that make me feel a bit funny. I have attached a picture just wondering wether anyone knows what it might be. It’s in sinus

always worrying about my heart rate
ugh.. I was having a great day, sat down whilst my food was cooking, glanced over at my Fitbit and saw 58bpm and got spooked. it's usually never below 60bpm when I'm sat down. started to feel dizzy and panicky and scared myself into thinking my heart was gonna stop or something!! this is so frustrating

Slight Injury
So I played football yesterday and hoped to put my new found fitness to good use playing 6 a side. Bearing in mind I’ve put on over 3 stone in lockdown I think I should have been a bit more cautious going into the game. I did a warm up run fully expecting my new found fitness to see me through and perhaps
