Sorry I am incapable of being brief!!Well unsurprisingly I suppose, cancelled, no ICU beds Monday.
Consultant had mentioned in passing surprised not on DOAC, saying no reason why not as would be pigs valve and only mitral valves probs need to be on warfarin. This was news to me. Given bridging jabs and returned Thursday. Had pre med yesterday then cancelled again.
I arrived with list as they said restart warfarin. Did they want loading dose, bridging or what?? Told good questions and doc messaged Cons. Said to start apixaban (11am) but would have to wait till 6pm for pharmacy. I said no he could have mine!! Could I return today ,no it's a 2 hour round trip. After prompting from yours truly agreed he could use mine till email had been acted on by GP if it would be right dose. I pointed out neither of us is skinny so yes it would!!
Kudos to system that by the time we drove home, prescription was at chemist to be picked up.
I'm not saying another word till he's out of surgery!!

Apologies Bagrat....i didn't finish my previous message....pressed send by mistake lol. I really hope things get sorted... cancellations are so upsetting for everyone involved. When I finally got called in I didn't tell anyone other than my daughter and partner as I got sick of explaining to people about the cancellations. Fingers crossed all goes well next time..take care xx
It sounds like a nightmare Bagrat. You must both be exhausted especially your poor husband. Organised chaos again. May the force be with you next time,
Good morning...Sorry to hear about the cancellation. It's very upsetting for everyone. I had my 'urgent' surgery cancelled twice whilst in hospital each time and was waiting nine months in the end...both cancellations due to lack of ICU beds. I was told that because the cancellations were for non surgical reasons but due to lack of beds, my surgery had to be rescheduled within 28 days. One of the nurses told me that because it had happened twice while I was gowned up I would be put on an emergency category wait list...how true this is I don't know but I did get my operation within 28 days. I believe this is written in the patient charter
So sorry to hear op has not yet happened, just adds to the stress of an already stressful situation. Thinking of you and your husband and got everything crossed it happens soon so you can move on and look forward to happier and healthier times.
You couldn't make this up.Good job it was cancelled. I've been admitted to hospital with cerebral event. Having MRI tomorrow, no sign of a bleed tonight. Feel very muddled and nauseated. Xx
Glad you are going home, but sorry you are still not well. Thought you would have MRI before discharge. What has being sensible got to do with it?!!! I’m sure the stress from your husbands cancelled op and trying to manage that hasn’t helped.
