DBS Surgery
I am considering the DBS surgery, as I am now taking 8 (25/100) Sinemet and 1 (50/200) Extended Release Sinemet each day. I live alone and wonder if that would be a problem. Would love to hear from folks that have had this surgery. Thanks!

Sinemet dose
I am on 25-200 sinemet 3 times per day. Is this considered a large dose? I don't have a lot of symptoms as of yet. Thank you.

Confused at 54?
Hi, my husband is 54 and was diagnosed with PD four years ago, although I suspect that he has had it for eight years or so. He says that he feels confused, like he doesn't belong at work and that he forgets where he is or what he is doing. He is so young and his physical symptoms are not too bad, lots

Many Faces of Sinemet
Sinemet Anyone managed to sort out all the differences between the different strengths and types? I notice that most people take 25/100 but there are references to CR, ER, Plus, here we have retard which seems to be extended release. My husband was put straight onto 25/250 Sinemet a few years ago,

MSA or Parkinson's? I'm not sure
About three years ago, my consultant arranged for me to have a CAT scan and a DAT scan, which indicated I had a form of Parkinson's. One specialist opinion was that I have Parkinson's (PD), on the basis of the other thought I had MSA because of my symptoms and scan results. This is not the typical

More off time and freezing
Hi Everyone, My friend was diagnosed nearly 3 years ago and has been doing well until recently. She takes Sinemet 25/100mg four times a day along with 1 x Mirapex. She`s having more problems during her off time between Sinemet doses and has started to freeze on occasions which has caused her great concern

Has anyone got low blood pressure?
Has anyone with Parkinson's got low blood pressure? How do you treat it? I am on sinemet tablets. I am also on Prednisolone for GCA. Yes, I am trying to increase my fluid intake and have a bag of crisps on most days. Any other ideas? I am 85.

Sinemet or Not???
I've been following this post for quite sometime. Read it everyday but only posted a few times. I was diagnosed in2012, symptoms since 2009. Doctor has me on azilect and pramipexole. He has wanted me on sinemet for quite some time but I have prolonged due to worry of long term side effects. Biggest

JUST BEGINNING RYTARY
WAS DIAGNOSED 15 YEARS AGO (64yo female) AND ACTUALLY GOT BETTER OVER THE YEARS AND WAS TAKING ONLY 2- 100/25 SINEMET A DAY SOMETIMES ONLY ONE. WE DETERMINED THAT I HAD LYME INDUCED PARRKINSONISM AND THAT THE NEURO LYME BUGS WERE BLOCKING MY DOPAMINE UPTAKE AS THIS NEURO HAD NEVER SEEN ANYONE IMPROVE

Another failure?
Sinemet was a dud, so I'm trying the timed release version. For the first two weeks I was to take a pill at 9:30 a.m. Yesterday I stepped up per instructions to one at 9:30 a.m. and another at 2 p.m. This morning when I woke up I thought I had gone completely bonkers. I had a night of grim nightmares

Liquefy your L-dopa
The following method for liquefying L-dopa has been shown to have faster on time with less dyskinesia. It is perfectly safe and as it will be shown, has been used with children with amblyopia (lazy eye). Simply put, it is liquifying 5 doses of L-dopa with 1,000 mg of vitamin C/ascorbic acid, is stored

Finding Joy in Parkinson's
Hi, my name is Kathleen Mier. I am a Cajun from South Louisiana. My husband was diagnosed about three years ago. I am convinced that he had Parkinson's for several years before diagnosis. Louis and I have been married for almost 47 years and many years ago, he became delusional about my "hitting"

Preparing for off times
Just wondered how everyone prepares for off time when med is not due. I'm usually wearing off 1/2 -1 hr before Sinemet is due.. Just seen new neurologist and working on it but I'm almost up to my max in meds. I try not to watch the clock and meditate but would like to know what other people do,

3 years on ... I fear my positivity ...
I am shocked. I have just retrieved my password and "rediscovered" this site. So much has happened, much of it good. 5 years since diagnosis and I feel better now than then. Where to start? Lots of exercise - non-contact boxing, Nordic walking with poles, Irish set dancing, gym with a trainer - the introduction

AZILECT
I live in UK and had PD nearly 2 years. My walking and balance are my main problems. I take 5 x 25/100 Sinemet Plus per day plus Pramipexole 0.18 mg 3 tablets 3 x per day. My symptoms can be very up and down for a few week's then settle down again. When I am told to take more sinemet I seem to
