Sinemet effectiveness
I just got out my journal from 2013, the year I was diagnosed. I was curious how long it had taken for the Sinemet to really make a difference in my symptoms. At our local support group we had a neurologist speak this week and he said it was a matter of hours in which people could see a difference. My

Parkinsons / Parkinsonism ?
Hi everyone , I'm new here and typing on behalf of my husband. Back in July he was put on Venaflaxine 75mg - taken off in Sept cold turkey as GP thought he'd had a stroke - all scans clear. At beginning of October was put on Lyrica - his legs began to go plus the speech got worse - gradually tapered

Neupro Patch, starting
Having no success with, alleviate symptoms (mainly tremor), with sinemet, amantadine , ropinirole I am moving to Neupro patch, 4mg, on Monday. My cost will be $350. I hope the cost is a reflection of its effective treatment for reducing my tremor. (and other symptoms) The tremors were so terrible one

Speech problems mainly
Husband has not been diagnosed yet (waiting on Neurologist appointment) but been given Sinemet 3 times daily. His speech is the main problem which occurred when he was on Venaflaxine anti depressant and has continued when he was taken off cold turkey. Slow walking came into it when he was put on Lyrica

Seeking Comments From those combining Mucuna Pruriens (MC) with their Sinemet (C/L)
When combining MC w/C/L how does that seem to work best for you? I believe there must be a better way than I have done so far. I have taken them at the same time and independently and one awhile before the other in both directions. I've taken MP with water, juice, hot pineapple juice as a hot beverage

Azilect and aches and pains
One of the continual frustrations with PD is not knowing what causes what. I started taking a very low dose of azilect, .5 milligram, in addition to the Sinemet, three times a day 25/100, and after a few days I had pain in my back where I get dystonia and in my arms and general discomfort. Apparently

The weather
If you live in an area of changeable weather, does it effect how you feel or how the symptoms of PD increase or decrease, if on Sinemet do you feel cold even when the weather is not, when coming up for another dose? If effected how do you deal with what is happening?

Ingesting potentially toxic non-foods as a toddler a pre- cursor for developing Juvenile On-set Parkinson's
As a toddler I used to get up to all sorts of mischief apparently and was forever putting strange things in my mouth and then proceeding to ingest them. The list includes eating soil and sand ,drinking some brake fluid I found , licking a paint brush clean of emulsion paint and sucking the pink phosphorus

Rotigotine ( Neupro ) ?
My Dad is 80yrs old. Has Parkinson's and was on Sinemet & other Meds. Became poorly with heart rate of 40 (!) & slight pneumonia. Admitted to Hosp & advised needed Pacemaker. He had "seizure" and they would not do Pacemaker. Very ill, Consultant told us he may die & we decided on not to have him resuscitated

Update on high b/p azilect and theanine in Gabba-Plex
About 3 months ago I was struggling to manage elevated b/p and to continue to take a Rx of Azilect and also to continue to take otc Gabba-Plex. Briefly, the history is that theanine in the Gabba-Plex increased the elevation of my b/p a common side-effect to Azilect. The update is that by taking just

Jumping legs!
My husband was diagnosed with grade 2. PD 3 years ago. He is doing pretty well on sinemet. The main problem is jumping legs, either one. Usually late in the day. This is apparently Repetitive Limb Movement and Sinemet is also a drug for this but it can make it worse. Does anyone else have this? It

PD or LBD and what about me?
My husband of 12 years was diagnosed with Parkinson's four years ago at the age of 51. It was never a definitive diagnosis and depending who we see, I can tell that they have doubts. We're in Canada, so no one will give him a SPECT or PET scan to even attempt to confirm a diagnosis. His on and off episodes

Bathroom issues
Dad was having severe constipation, up to 7 days. Even with lachulose twice a day and prune juice. No results. Even slow results with using suppository. Neurologist just stopped sinemet to see if that helps. It seems to have helped but now he has been unable to urinate and now has a catheter last

Thanksgiving Day Tremors!
I know, it is not Thanksgiving Day yet! But I have to share this story. Ok, so I forego going to church yesterday so that I can get up early to do my Thanksgiving dinner shopping. Well , I don't really go to church much, but it sounds good, right? I always have to bundle up when I go to almost any

Question about Azilect
I am a stage3 possible 4 person with Parkinson's. I've taken very little pharmaceutical drugs so far. Mostly supplements. Is Azilect mostly for early stage 1 or 2 pwp? Can Azilect possibly help me at this late stage in my progression? Sinemet doesn't seem to work well for me. Please help.
