Gene therapy boosts Parkinson’s disease drug benefits
Within this brief article, researchers at Northwestern University express confidence that they've found the cause of PD, and that this will allow research to move forward with more focus. “It has long been debated whether mitochondrial damage is the cause or the consequence of the disease. An important thought by Jun Takahashi, the lead of the team that is carrying out Stem cell trial for PD in Kyoto university Japan
One session with the Movement Disorder Society Society and gene therapy. There are two mechanisms for cell transplantation, one is the cytokine effect and the other is cell replacement. The former is expected to provide neuroprotection and inflammation suppression by cytokines and exosomes released by

Gene Therapy Success With Ties to Parkinson’s Disease
I posted this as a reply to Bass of Spade's optimistic post regarding gene therapy, but I think it's worthy of being the subject of a separate post. Gene Therapy Offers Long-Awaited Hope for Children with Rare, Incurable Disorder. Patients with Parkinson’s, Alzheimer’s May Benefit from Novel Treatment

What improvements can we anticipate within 10-15 years?
I am not seeking false hope nor do I want to perpetuate it but I do think there will be more treatments within the next 10-15 years. A off the top of my head list: There may be stem cells for PWP. Perhaps intravenous like the UT trial. There may be personalized cell therapy (pluripotent neurons

Is this rheumatoid arthritis disease genetic???
If this RA is genetic as most people think then I feel extremely lucky to have been diagnosed at 75 years,. As a child growing up, I can only remember my mum being doubled up in pain and having to go on her hands and knees and climb slowly upstairs to bed. She died when I was 21 of cancer . I am 80

Whipple operation
I had a pancreatic operation about 12 years ago and ihad a whipple operation. It has left me with a couple of life long problems. Constant bloating, bile duct problems and the worst problem is either constipated or diarrhoea. I do take a power every night called Laxido to help and it works but it mainly

Teenage daily migraines
First of all, sorry about my long-winded message. My 14 year old daughter has been getting daily “migraine-like” headaches that last from the moment she wakes up to the moment she goes to sleep. (This is the description the neurologist gives). She has had them now for 3 months & is unable to participate

2021 Should be An Informative Year

In Defense of Medication
When I was diagnosed three years ago, I was determined to do everything in my power to stay off medication for as long as possible. As we all know, there isn't any medication which slows or stops the progression of Parkinson's and long term use often leads to troubling side effects like dyskinesia.

Biodegradable Microcapsules Deliver Nerve Growth Factor to Guide Neuronal Development

Multiple Uses For Focused Ultrasound
