greeting from Canada.

posting for my father here.

gleason score 8 (intraductal) without Metastases, diagnosed in 2017. was on eligard alone for 2 year until it failed. has been on Erleada for 1.5 year and now PSA is creeping up from 0.03 to 0.06.

it's all uncertain for now but the discussion of changing therapy might come up, I read somewhere that there are therapies that targets certain gene mutation. His mothers and 2 sisters all had breast cancer, is this something clinically important to discuss with the urologist?

is gene mapping available in Canada? what are the cost? what type of gene therapy is available in Canada?

thanks in advance!!

thank you so much for your info. May I please get that 1800 number? Do you know anyone that had success with PARP Inhibitors? what are the average PFS?

There are PARP inhibitors that are effective for men with BRCA mutations, but they are only available if he is both metastatic and castration resistant. He has to give a saliva sample to determine if he has an inherited BRCA mutation. The best germline test that is widely available in the US is Color Genome Dx - check with them if they ship to Canada:

home.color.com/purchase/ord...

If they don't there are several other manufacturers - check with your oncologist.

I had a Color.com germline test for free. I think it checked about thirty genes.

They do ship to Canada. I used Color for my test and the cost was around $250 I believe. My test showed no gene mutations for prostate cancer or heart disease, even though I am living with both.
