My husband Paul was in ICU for around 9 days he had respiratory distress and was septic. Previously he was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer which was borderline resectable. The plan was to give him a aggressive dose of chemotherapy to shrink the tumor and then perform the Whipple operation. The chemotherapy

What do pain management units do?
My rheumy refereed me to the pain management unit at the hospital just over a year ago. I had completely forgotten until I got a letter saying I have to attend a group info session and then they will make an appt. Do they just do group therapy, CBT stuff as I am not interested in that? I also really

5 years past whipple-what to do about omeprazole
I had a whipple procedure done after the discovery of a non-malignant tumor on my pancreas. After the procedure, I was told that I would need to take omeprazole morning and night, for the rest of my life. I have had gastroenterological issues and want to eliminate omeprazole from my routine, if possible

DIY Gene Therapy
Well, this was only a matter of time. I have posted several times about Crispr gene therapy racing ahead, all sorts of diseases cured (maybe) in animals. I knew about home Crispr kits for use on lower life forms. I even planned to buy one and have a play around. But, here we go, people are attempting

New member — husband stage IV melanoma
Hi All - my 40 yr old husband, who had a melanoma removed from his chest a few years prior and had since checked out clean, was very suddenly diagnosed with metastic melanoma this past May. Ongoing flu-like symptoms and suspected vertigo led me to take him to the ER, where we learned he had a baseball

CAR T Therapy
I am just curious if anyone in here has had CAR T therapy. I know it is not yet approved for CLL, although clinical studies are ongoing. Or, if anyone knows where I can read about people with CLL who have experienced it. I hope the medical community does not give up on gene therapy. I understand that

I've had 3 cysts on my pancreas for 7 years, 1 has double in size I had eus and the fluid they tested had double the amount of something which me a 60 to 70% chance it's cancer, I've to have another eau to check one of the other cysts and depending on the results of that they will decide whether to do

Phase 1b clinical trial of gene therapy (by Voyager) has impressive success
A year ago, Roy Prop alerted us all to the clinical trial of Voyager Therapeutics. https://www.technologyreview.com/s/602193/manufacturing-dopamine-in-the-brain-with-gene-therapy/ Instead of kicking a dying horse, the Substantia Nigra, Voyager had the daring, clever idea of working with a nearby brain

Whipple 6/23/17
I had a Whipple procedure on June 23, 2017 because of a tumor at the head of my pancreas and I'm wondering how long it takes to when you feel your energy coming back. It's really only been three weeks but I feel tired all the time.
