One session with the Movement Disorder Society Society and gene therapy. There are two mechanisms for cell transplantation, one is the cytokine effect and the other is cell replacement. The former is expected to provide neuroprotection and inflammation suppression by cytokines and exosomes released by transplanted cells, but the cells do not survive for a long time and the principle is the same as drug treatment.

Although clinical trials are being conducted mainly on mesenchymal stem cells, it is likely that physiologically active substances will be identified and used for drug therapy or gene therapy. The latter cell replacement is expected for cell transplantation. Transplanted cells reconstruct neural circuits and survive for a long time. Naturally, the difficulty level will be much higher, but for that purpose, we can expect a combination of cell transplantation and gene therapy.
