Fundoplication

I am considering Nissen Fundoplication and wondered if anyone here has had the operation - especially if you live in Australia!

and did a partial fundoplication as well. I woke up delirious and disoriented, and they kept me in hospital 3 days to make sure I could tolerate fluids. Since discharge last Sunday, I’ve been vomiting all week, only just stopped in the last couple of days.

Had severe reflux since 21 (now 29) Finally been recommended fundoplication surgery as medications aren’t working. Really unsure on what to do. Consultant basically tried to talk me out of it even though he has said nothing else will work. Reflux is unbearable.

I would be interested to know of peoples experience with anti-reflux surgery, such as partial or full fundoplication, LINX or stretta. Was it worth it? What is life like after the surgery? Any disadvantages? With thanks for your replies.

I had the surgery in March. I had gastroscopy - it showed no hernia anymore Now I still suffer from mild acid at night and after the meals… my troat is burning

I am almost three months after the nissen fundoplication. Still suffering of heartburn PPI didn’t worked before - I still take dexilant

I am wondering if the fundoplication has failed... I am seeing my surgeon next week but wondering whether anyone else has experienced this?

Also,has anybody here had a 10 cm hernia and had fundoplication? Is it really dangerous ? I am becoming quite depressed and I'm beginning to lose my fight at times which is not like me but having 2 fractured vertebrae as well is , also,so painful. Just now everything hurts! What a moan !

The surgery is called a Nissen fundoplication. The surgery was incorrectly done. In 2002 I had to have it redone. This time by best in US . in 2016 I saw a specialist surgeon at Barnes because it felt like surgery had come undone.

The Dr who performed the tests was very helpful and communicative, she thought I might not be a candidate for Linx or fundoplication due to above but pointed out that it was a decision for the consultant. Any thoughts?

Surgeon is keen to carry out fundoplication but says I will be unable to vomit or burp which seems a high price to pay. I asked about Linx procedure which he does carry out but I gained the impression he was unenthusiastic.

I had the nissen fundoplication op in 2008 and 18 months later I started to become sick and have got worse everyday since. It started with cluster migraines and something like fainting/non-epileptic seizures.

I'm hoping to have an endoscopy to tell me what my situation is and have done some research on the different types of HH repair - endoluminal fundoplication (clips are put on the hernia) seems the most promising but I understand it's new.

I had a Nissen Fundoplication in 2017 and I have been relatively good since surgery and have no reflux sensations, swallowing as been good 90% of the time but occassionally like the past few weeks, I'm eating and I can feel my food go past my wrap and sometimes hold up at the site with certain foods.

I had a redo fundoplication in 2015 so he thinks it could be related. He is going to check my blood results and get back to me. So I honestly don't hold out a lot of hope at this time. Might be back to the drawing board ...

I hoped that I would never have to have an endoscopy again - I had a 270 degree fundoplication and hiatus hernia repair 4 years ago, no acid indigestion since - but in the last couple of years I have suffered from a very dry mouth, sometimes a burnt tongue with loss of taste and sometimes a very stuffed

Hi does anyone know if there is a relationship between having had a Nissan fundoplication for hiatus hernia and the onset of ectopic beats. I had a Nissen 25 years ago and have a hiatus hernia that has returned for about 10 years.

However there are over 2 million people in the UK who do not respond effectively to this treatment and for these people, there are other options they can consider to treat their disease such as a LINX procedure or a fundoplication.
