Nocturnal hypertension A to B to C

I have nocturnal hypertension. The hypertension has caused kidney issues. I see a kidney specialist in September. I think we have figured out the cause. In 1999 I had surgery for reflux. The surgery is called a Nissen fundoplication. The surgery was incorrectly done. In 2002 I had to have it redone. This time by best in US . in 2016 I saw a specialist surgeon at Barnes because it felt like surgery had come undone. He said I had a very small hernia that seemed to resolve on its own. So, I started taking an H2 blocker and went on with life.

A few years ago I developed a thing where I started coughing up a nasty scab covered in mucus. My primary sent me to see an ENT He scoped me, said I had good sinuses, and told me to see a lung specialist. A chest x-ray showed clear lungs, o2 sats were 99. So, I continued to hawk out the scab three or four times a week. Life went on.

I developed nocturnal hypertension with a choking sensation when horizontal. Was rescoped by ENT 3 weeks ago. Lesion on laryngopharynx area with inflammation and mucus. He diagnosed reflux. I believe I have hernia coming up through Nissen. If so surgery is only answer. It is getting worse. Every night is a nightmare of choking, high BP, and restless sleep. See gastro end of August. Waited 6 months to see her. requesting to see a surgeon to get this fixed. It is a nightmare.

Bought adjustable bed. tried to raise head when sleeping. Does not make a difference. I can feel stuff coming up when I stand up straight now.

I think you may be better going onto another forum as it does not seem your problems are connected to the PMR, so we may not be that knowledgable.

Are you still on the 3 meds since you are off of Actemra? I don't think Actemra is causing this. I had the thing I coughed up before starting Actemra. I just think Actemra will make it harder for the lesion to heal. The ENT doc said it does not look like cancer, just irritation from reflux. You have my sympathy. Nocturnal hypertension is scary. I always wake up feeling awful. Are you better now?

Do you still have nocturnal hypertension. I have a friend in the US who is a nurse practitioner. She suspects my nocturnal hypertension is from being on prednisone for 12 plus years.

My mother once told me: lose your weight before the age of 50 because after that it is nearly impossible. She said that to me after I gained 90 pounds with my pregnancy. I loved whole milk. I need to lose 15 or 20 pounds, and am working hard not to gain any more. It is an uphill battle on these meds. I saw a sleep apnea doctor. He sent me to the ENT, who scoped me and found the reflux. I have not done a sleep study. I believe I have a mechanical problem. My best friend who is a nurse practitioner believes the long term use of prednisone is doing this. I am hopeful they will keep working at things until they figure it out. good to hear from you.
