I have nocturnal hypertension. The hypertension has caused kidney issues. I see a kidney specialist in September. I think we have figured out the cause. In 1999 I had surgery for reflux. The surgery is called a Nissen fundoplication. The surgery was incorrectly done. In 2002 I had to have it redone. This time by best in US . in 2016 I saw a specialist surgeon at Barnes because it felt like surgery had come undone. He said I had a very small hernia that seemed to resolve on its own. So, I started taking an H2 blocker and went on with life.
A few years ago I developed a thing where I started coughing up a nasty scab covered in mucus. My primary sent me to see an ENT He scoped me, said I had good sinuses, and told me to see a lung specialist. A chest x-ray showed clear lungs, o2 sats were 99. So, I continued to hawk out the scab three or four times a week. Life went on.
I developed nocturnal hypertension with a choking sensation when horizontal. Was rescoped by ENT 3 weeks ago. Lesion on laryngopharynx area with inflammation and mucus. He diagnosed reflux. I believe I have hernia coming up through Nissen. If so surgery is only answer. It is getting worse. Every night is a nightmare of choking, high BP, and restless sleep. See gastro end of August. Waited 6 months to see her. requesting to see a surgeon to get this fixed. It is a nightmare.
Bought adjustable bed. tried to raise head when sleeping. Does not make a difference. I can feel stuff coming up when I stand up straight now.
