I would be interested to know of peoples experience with anti-reflux surgery, such as partial or full fundoplication, LINX or stretta. Was it worth it? What is life like after the surgery? Any disadvantages? With thanks for your replies.

Anti-reflux surgery
Hi, I am faced with the decision about proceeding with gastric surgery. I have posted too requesting feedback but no one responded.I hope you have better luck.
Thank you for you reply, I have had a reply from a message to sproxtomn who kindly shared an update on their stretta. This may be of interest. It is a big decision. I guess those who are bettter may not be following the posts anymore, Good luck.
I had the nissen fundoplication surgery- it didn’t help -
I considered it but three different surgeons said not to have it done.
Thank you for your reply. Did they give a reason? Its a surgeon who is recommending this, but its a big decision.
They all said roughly the same things, ie I wouldnt be able to vomit, my ability to swallow may well be compromised. It may make me worse or give me more problems overall.
I also have cardiac arrhythmias which are generated largely through gastric issues, ie gastric goes off on one andit sets my heart arrhythmia off. A real concern for me was thing my stomach wrap around would push things closer to my heart and may well exacerbate that issues. Lynx surgery would be putting a foreign body close to my heart which would also cause issues.
For me the surgery, outwith the heart issue connection, makes it a last resort I cant sanction as viable for me. I so wish there was a last drastic option. Best Wishes with your decision making. Take your time and get lots of top notch medical advice.
Inominate, I had LPR especially laying down. I learned about the importance of activated vitamin B1 (thiamine) for the brain and vagus nerve to control the digestive system including sphincter valves. Magnesium is needed to activate thiamine and both can have difficulty passing through the blood brain barrier. Magnesium threonate and TTFD thiamine pass without difficulity. It's been almost a year since I started using them and have not had reflux since. I use a B-complex as a base in addition to the TTFD. B vitamins work better together. Also search on SIBO thiamine as well as Hiding in Plain Sight - Moderrn Thiamine Deficiency. Always consult with your health care professional before using any supplement.
My surgery was extremely successful. Yes recently I did had swallowing difficulties 2 years after surgery but it has been fixed🤞🏻🤞🏻. But good trade off as have Barrett’s disease and hope this is controlling the progression . My life was miserable before the surgery so would do it again in a heart beat
Many thanks for your message and success story, despite the recent difficulties. Like many sufferers, I've made lots of lifestyle changes but am not always winning and don't want to risk something more serious. Likewise, no procedure or surgery is without possible consequences. Thanks again.
