I was diagnosed with hiatal hernia in Oct17. I managed it for a long time with very occasional reflux. I cannot take omoprozole so simply used Gaviscon occasionally (like once every 3 months) to manage any acid.
Then in Aug21 it flared up horrendously. Everyday, all the time. I was unable to swallow, couldn't swallow food, excessive saliva at night resulting in choking. I had heartburn constantly and a tingling tongue.
I had this all checked out and had a Nissen Fundoplication in Feb this year as the hiatal hernia had grown significantly. All the symptoms resolved.
Then I got covid in July this year and had excessive coughing for 7 weeks. All symptoms have returned. I am wondering if the fundoplication has failed...
I am seeing my surgeon next week but wondering whether anyone else has experienced this?
