Hi everyone i have a strange question about oral prednisolone, I am interested to know typically how long does it take for them to solve peoples accute exacerbation i.e when people are on a rescue course I typically take 3 to 4 days to stabalise i.e peak flow increasing.

Mucus
A while back I asked about coughing up mucus after taking ventoline, and I got a bunch of great answers, but now I have a follow-up question. Does coughing up mucus when taking the reliever before exercise indicate that my asthma is undertreated? Because why else would my lungs be filled with gunk? Or

could she have missed a chest infection?
Hi, I've been struggling for a few weeks now, asthma symptoms being a pain, but also coughing up gross phlegm, achey, exhausted, sweaty and feel like my lungs are stuffed full of ground glass. I went to see the asthma nurse Last week who put me on 40mg of prednisolone but said no crackling so no anti-biotics

Rant
Hi All, I just though I'd share my scary encounter with my respiratory team. Saw the cons on Friday, she rocked up an hour late and was in a foul mood, tried to tell her I was unwell, (big morning dips, loads of Ventolin and chest pain), was told I should probably be on oral pred, but she was too busy

New to Relvar - any advice on possible cough side effect?
Hello, I'm 45 and I've had cough variant asthma for a few years. Previously, I've only had symptoms triggered by a chest infection (not colds). Very recently, I've now got pollen as a trigger I've had very mild hay fever since my 30s, but it's never caused asthma symptoms. I was taking 200mcg clenil

Good news
Had My Check Up On Thurs With The Respiratory sister, re joining the exercise class, well hahaha, she won't accept me, she says I am too well. Couldn't do spirometry test due to recent retina surgery, so did peak flow meter and blew 420. Oxygen sat is 99%. B.P normal. Pulse normal. She sent me home

Another one needing some basic advice
I am in the process of trying to learn to recognise when I have a problem. Recently I got a bad chest infection, but I didn't recognise myself how bad it was. I have since been told by several people that they noticed I could not speak a whole sentence without breathing in the middle, but I didn't notice

Is a peak flow of 200 low after a nebuliser?
Hi all i don't have a asthma plan and due to a lung operation I don't know what my normal is the reason I'm asking is I'm on antibiotics and nebuliser but not much improvement I'm missing 1/3 of my right lung and I've been told that I have fluid in my lung but it shouldn't bother me the reason I'm on

Wheezy Again
Peak flow keeps dropping debating a trip to A&E it's currently at 230 asthma plan says if it goes below 210 then go. I'm feeling really rubbish had two salbutamol nebs which have not helped and loads of ventolin inhalers plus topped up with extra fostair ... Doing everything I've been told.

What do I do first? Sorry, long post.
Hello all. I would like some advice about next steps regarding my asthma and allergies (and possible related ailments). Here's a potted version of my 'history' so far: 1. Asthmatic since childhood, only wheezing when I have a cold, prone to chest infections, allergy to house dust/dust mites. 2. Constant

newly diagnosed - good peak flow but with a wheeze
After admission to hospital with a very fast resting heart rate and suspected blood clot on my lung I came away with an asthma diagnosis. 10 days prednisone and 2x symbicort 2x daily I am finding that my 'normal' isn't normal at all and that I can exercise without 'being unfit and dreadfully out of

Can't switch off after post exercise symptoms
Feeling a little sorry for myself ;-( I went to the gym this evening and went on the running machine as usual, had taken my inhaler beforehand but after 5 minutes I had to come off as my lungs were burning. I started coughing and wheezing (which is unusual for me) I had my inhaler again which helped

Are peak flow readings necessarily reflective of asthma condition?
Hi folks- perhaps I should know the answer to this so please accept my apologies for being a numpty.... My reason for asking is that I woke up wheezing this morning - as is normal for me at some stage (s ) of the day- and have also been coughing and wheezing since-relieved thankfully by my inhaler-

Confirmation
Well, I had it confirmed today that I do have asthma. I've been keeping a peak flow chart as asked to do so. Alison my asthma nurse said "your in the club, definitely have asthma" Feel much better since being on the Clenil Modulite with Ventolin as top up. It's nice not to sound like a sad set of bagpipes
