Switching Medications
Has anyone had any experience switching from
Flecainide
to another drug. I am supposed to do that starting tomorrow and I am very nervous.

Very informative discussion with cardiologist
I can’t take
Flecainide
in any form, including IV in A&E, because it might slow my heart too much (without pacemaker). Bisoprolol is a 3rd generation beta blocker which would be good because it helps to prevent AF as well as slowing the heart but is not suitable for me because of my asthma.

Confused again, nervous & scared
My evening meds (
Flecainide
150 mg which I take twice a day -- & I take Pradaxa too) did nothing perhaps because
Flecainide
acts on rhythm, not rate?

Have read many bad stories about and have been told that
flecainide
is maybe not as potent but the best tolerated out of all the antiarrhythmic. Any thoughts?

Are beta blockers still regarded as (always) bad for Vagal Afib?
So, I am 10 days or so into daily
Flecainide
medication for the first time after 16 months of PIP and it has been a rollercoaster to say they least. 4 clear days and then 7 episodes in 72 hours followed by 1 a day three days.

Flecainade
But I was just wondering if any of you have experienced similar reaction at the onset of taking
flecainide
.?

Will Daily Dose Flecainide help to terminate an episode that starts up anyway?
Can I hope that this might terminate more quickly than usual due to the
Flecainide
in my body or should I reach for the PIP again as well? (Generally I have been averaging 1 or occasionally 2 episodes per week of 4-8 hours duration before starting the daily dosing.) Many thanks.

Increasing Flecainide at home
He is wanting to increase my
flecainide
from 1 x 50mg tablet twice a day to the same strength tablet 3 times a day as I'm still having 4 or 5 episodes a month lasting from 3 to 16 hours and ranging from 120 to 147 beats. Although this month its only lasted 2 to 3 hours.

5.5 MTHS post ablation
This time it last 30 mins with me taking 100 mcg of
flecainide
as instructed after 15 mins. Nothing major since. It's thrown me into a total tailspin, happening so long after the ablation. Though I've only been off amiadarone for 5.5 weeks.

Flecainide and Metoprolol
In the past I have not tolerated
flecainide
, however my cardiologist said I should sitck with it for a couple of weeks to let my body adjust. My question is --those of you have taken or are taking
flecainide
- did you have to adjust to taking it?

Has anyone had Ablation for AFib and PAC’s/PVC’s? And did it stop the PAC’s?
Was put on
Flecainide
50 mg 2 a day. Was working good for PAC’s for about 2 months, now not so great. It’s becoming more frequent and last longer each time. I’ve already made my mind up about an ablation and am going to schedule one.

Heart Score
27 and needed to ensure that it was not going higher, does anyone know what he means and what it is called in medical terms, I will be having a telephone consultant with my cardiologist 27th Nov as it looks likely that an ablation will be on the cards as it was suggested last Nov but was trying with

AF after flu jab
Advised previously when this happened to take additional 100mg of
Flecainide
along with the 200mg I already take daily to put my heart back in sinus rhythm.

Four Months on from Ablation #1
This means that it tends to not respond well (At all) To
flecainide
, and needs quite a lot (5-8mg) of Bisoprolol to get the rate down from 140-150 bpm to around 100-110.

Inhalers and Atrial Fibrillation
I suffer with Atrial Fibrillation for which I take
Flecainide
. After reading about the side effects of the inhaler I am too scared to use it in case it triggers something off? Should I be worried.

AF and E Bike
My AF had been under control for around 13 years after an Ablation and staying on
Flecainide
. I had to come off
Flecainide
in April after discovering some Coronary Artery disease. Since then my AF episodes have increased to an extent that I go into AF on a weekly basis.

Desperately seeking answers
I am currently on week two of
flecainide
and I seem to be having more “episodes” than when I wasn’t taking it. I want to come off of this medicine so bad. Any suggestions on how I can without adverse effects? Thanks guys!

New to AFib and having Anxiety and Depression
After finally being diagnosed with AFib last month, I am currently on Diltiazem 1xday 180mg, Eliquis 2xday 5mg, and
Flecainide
2xday 50mg. I have to say that after reading about
Flecainide
on this site and how it helped, I mentioned it to my cardio doc and he prescribed it for me!

Weaning off Flecainide
I’ve have been on 150mg twice a day of
Flecainide
but have had so many side effects. So I was told to take 100mg twice a day instead. And now my cardiologist has taken an ECG and says my QRS duration has increased. He contacted my EP who now says to stop taking the
Flecainide
completely.
