Switching Medications

Has anyone had any experience switching from Flecainide to another drug. I am supposed to do that starting tomorrow and I am very nervous.

I have not switched but I was curious as to why you are having to do that if you care to share. I’ve been on Flecainide a very long time (7 years) and haven’t had to switch ...at least not yet.

I have been taking Flecainide for a little over a year for severe PACs and PVCs that I can feel. I went 8 months without feeling them at all. Then this past May I started feeling them again. My EP increased my dosage( I take 50mg twice a day) to 100mg twice a day and it made me very ill. So he is wanting to try me on Multaq.

Oh I see. I wish you well in the switch over. I’d heard that Flec sometimes stops working and I’ve been keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn’t happen to me. I guess the only thing I have to offer is that it may not be a bad thing. I remember I was terrified to even start the Flecainide and it turned out that my fears were worse than the medication. The mind is a powerful thing. But I get it- sending positive vibes your way for a smooth transition.

Thank you so much for the positive vibes!! It was scary when I started too. But definitely was well worth it! I was blessed with 8 months of not having to even think about my heart. I am praying the new medicine will do the same and last longer !
