Firmagon

In my 4th week of Firmagon...and since starting the treatment, as of yesterday....PSA went from 0.16 to < 0.01 (undetectable)....which is where I was a year ago post RP. T went from 128 to 19. So next shot is Monday...and hopefully it won't be a week of pain like the first double shot.

Oh, and I just got a call telling me that Firmagon is in short supply and they have to delay my next monthly injection. Anyone else running into this? I know some Lupron (1 and 3 month) doses have previously been in short supply. Is this the future for what APC patients have to look forward to?

I forgot to say that my last Testestron level was 102 up from < 10 after the 6 Firmagon injections. My next PSA and T level test is in 2 weeks from now. Please advise should I do the Axumin scan now or wait for a detectable PSA? Thank you for reading my post.

I've been on Firmagon now for two months. I go for my third injection today. It's not a bad life on Firmagon. I mean, No libido, Hot flashes about once per hour, but they only last 5 min at the most.

I am on Firmagon and finished 5 rounds of Docetaxel. I have mets on the left side of my skull. I am hoping these things are side effects of the meds and not things intruding into my brain. I get occasional pain on the left side of my head. Of course being stage 4, every pain and symptom worry me.

Is Firmagon better/worse than Lupron?

When did your hot flashes start? How bad/frequent were they? What brought them on? Just got through my first 5 days...and the pain and swelling from dual initial injections is finally abating...wondering what comes next and how bad? I know each person is unique...just trying to have realistic expectations

I went in Monday for my Firmagon injection and bloodwork. My PSA seems to have leveled off at 0.6. Should I be expecting it to go lower, or is that my new "normal"? I see lots of guys on here that have levels of 0.02 which I guess is basically undetectable.

I received my first Firmagon shots (2) on Monday 10/19/2020. Three days in and the pain is still very much present from the red swollen hard pot belly that resulted. Not sure I can face this monthly for 2-3 years, even if 1 shot going forward.

I had RP 14 months ago, on Firmagon (Part B coverage), and getting radiation in 2 months. What kind of self-administered drugs might I bump into next? What Part D coverages have people found to be best for these drugs.

I begin monthly Firmagon injections tomorrow. This drug can reduce testosterone 88% in 24 hrs.94% in 3 days...ànd some have reported their T will not recover for 2-3 months after an injection.

He is also on Firmagon. His doctor said nothing but I’m starting to see this forum as my valuable second opinion (If anything is dangerous, please send a link to a study I can show him). Should add: I know my father’s motto is “as long as it doesn’t do any harm” (which I think is just fine!!

The doctor wants me to continue on Firmagon for 24 months after the IMRT as a high risk case. It seems to be the SOC for high risk cases. I have been very regular in walking and exercising including some light weights.

I am on Firmagon/degarelix + Bicalutamid now. Any thoughts on whether additional treatment is warranted now, to be proactive, even though the mets are not 100 % confirmed? I understand bone mets should be hit heavy and early, but is it wrong to do so before they are fully confirmed?

I start monthly Firmagon injections (2-3 years estimated) next week and my Medicare advantage program just informed me that the monthly co-pay for this drug will be $429 ($5148/year).

I’ve explained how badly I reacted to ADT 4 years ago when I received a single Firmagon shot, which is why this is a consideration. I’ve been researching to try and find out exactly what to expect during my first simulation or preparation, and the following 45 days of radiation.

However they have recommended that Instead of Monthly Dose of Degarelix (Firmagon), I may switch to Lupron 22.5 mg , as a once in three months dose. May I seek your comments on this please. 😀

My MO did not mention it and just wants to keep me on Firmagon and see how things go. Any thoughts?
