In my 4th week of Firmagon...and since starting the treatment, as of yesterday....PSA went from 0.16 to < 0.01 (undetectable)....which is where I was a year ago post RP. T went from 128 to 19. So next shot is Monday...and hopefully it won't be a week of pain like the first double shot. Radiation for 7 weeks (daily) is a month away now. Happy Holidays 🎅 :). At least the hot flashes are keeping the heating bill lower.
I do wish you all the best for the coming holidays. Peace.

"He" is here and able to answer questions about my own health. It is an attempt to be able to go into remission. Gleason 9, I had RP...1 lymph node positive..went to <.01post op....recurrence...and PSA has been gradually rising. Best shot is to catch it prior to .2 PSA. Radiation next after 2 months ADT. TA is well aware of my journey.
Hi.. Yes the initial Double shot.. brings the PSA down almost immediately.. the shots i have been having monthly have been from getting cold chills..a very sore injection Spot on the stomach lasting 4 days.. i have found that with Firmagon..the joints are extremely sore a week before the next shot..Have been on Firmagon for 2 Years now.. Keep going , the symptoms differ each month
I have found over 20 months of Firmagon that if you have a muscular abdomen then nearer the navel is more painful. Get your injection more towards the side of the abdomen in the fleshy part - no muscles.
Joints get sore or one has difficulty with initial movement from stationery position because of no testosterone. This could be the cause of soreness if you don't have arthritis (osteo or rheumatoid).
Ask your doc to give you steroids take 1 5mg for 3 days before injection I suffered badly from it now no real problems
Wow! I Feel for you brother .. My first shot was a one month dose of Firmagon over five years ago . I did imrt and double adt at the same time . Then in remission over four years now . I switched to Lupron for 18 months then I had an orchiectomy over three years ago .. allowing me to drop the lupron . This entire time I’ve been on a failed adt test drug that’s still working for me . Go figure? Get through all of this crap and get back to healing . It takes time to recover from treatments . Stay strong . Get oxygen each day if possible ? You can push it away for years 🙏
For the pain, ask the nurse/med technician to put injection at a 45 degree Angie and to do it slowly—at least 60 seconds. If they’ll do that it shouldn’t be as sore.
I’ve been on Firmagon for almost three years with timeout after RP. That’s been my experience.
