I’ve had persistent heartburn, acid reflux/GERD related symptoms for 3 weeks? What should I do?

The heartburn / chest pressure seems to be relieved a little bit by omeprazole (strong dose of 40mg morning and before bed), Peptac liquid and Famotidine but it seems to be ongoing and constant for about 3 weeks now and is not relieved in a major way by these medicines.

Slowly I am Recovering!

Ended up with (85 and 50% blockage-2 DES Abbot Xience Prime Stents) Post stents put on Nebivolol, Statins, Plavix, Renola, Famotidine, aspirin. After that nightmare started ! Chest pains which got me in Emergency 3-4 times.

Omperazole and MTX

She agreed, however, to send in a prescription for famotidine (Pepsid) which is an H2 blocker and not nearly as effective. My heartburn/acid reflux has been horrendous since I’ve cut back drastically on the omperazole. I was just wondering if anyone else has experience with these two drugs.

Dexamethasone instead of Prednisone for PMR????

Now on 20 mg omneprazole am and pm and 40g famotidine in evening. So rheumie moved me to .5mg dexamethasone replacing prednisone. He said it might help my esophagus stomach etc Then we would go back to prednisone when I can get down to 2 - 1 mg. Has anyone done this or heard of it?

FAMOTIDINE as an alternative to Cimetidine. Any side effects.

Due to the availability issues with Cimetidine and Ranitidine I have changed to Famotidine. Would be interested to hear of any side effects you may have experienced if you have also changed from Cimetidine to Famotidine. Also do you find Famotidine effective. Thank you.

The drugs to fight Covid-19 are already on the market

“For example, anti-ulcer drug Famotidine, which costs about $5 per month, is cardio-protective and antiviral, and has been found recently to have anti-Covid-19 effects. It was one of the drugs used in the cocktail to treat President Trump,” Rogosnitzky said.

Upper Gi

Is it best to stop taking the famotidine or shall I continue to take that as well? Any advice on what not to do with an ulcer?

Yet more about Ranitidine

If anyone has any views or experience of the Famotidine, I would welcome your comments before I reach the stage of trying them.

UK Medications Update, August 24, 2020

The following link shows the likely availability of the different options and should remain updated. https://psnc.org.uk/our-news/supply-notification-h2-antagonists-cimetidine-famotidine-and-nizatidine/ It maybe helpful to look at the list with your prescribing doctor and/or speak with your pharmacist

Questions for anyone who suffered acid rebound effect after PPI use, and eventually was free from acid reflux?

Famotidine because I feel it's more effective). For starters I were forced to also a sodium bicarbonate "fizzle" type powder you mix with water, to be able to go on. I took it several times a day, plus before I went to bed.

GERD: Esophageal Erosion and Ulcers

H2 blockers, such as cimetidine (Tagamet) and famotidine (Pepcid). The most common surgery to treat GERD is fundoplication surgery.

Brain Fog

Included in this group are names which may be familiar: Ranitidine, Cimetidine, Famotidine and Nizatidine. The list of drugs that can cause brain fog is quite extensive. I've only skimmed the surface. Doctors and pharmacists certainly can identify many more.
