Concerned about switching to Keppra
Hi. After seeing my neurologist he has suggested changing from Epilim chrono to Keppra. However he did mention the potential side effect of Keppra rage and general mood changes. Has anyone seen this happen? I do take a number of other medications so switching was advised to avoid interactions. I am

Migraine: The Truth?
I am sixty-seven. I started having migraines when I was five. I have had every procedure you can think of including a nerve stimulator, nerve blocks, cranial nerve cutting, Botox injections and about forty different prophylactic drugs, all under the supervision of the neurology departments at Queen Square

Eplim (sodium valporate) side effects?
I was prescribed Epilim (sodium valporate) as a preventative for migraines. I took one tablet and had terrible stomach pain, twitching and eye fluttering. I stopped taking it although the GP said to stay on it as I wasn't willing to suffer the side effects. I thought no more of it but it was about that

A bad week
I went for about 7 years (age 14-21), initially having seizures occasionally, then towards the end having tonic-clonic (grand mal) seizures almost weekly and absence and myoclonic jerk seizures almost daily. After trying two kinds of meds that didn't work, I found my miracle cure! I only had one more

Interaction with epileptic medication
Some anticonvulsants (anti-epileptic medicines) including phenytoin and carbamazepine (Tegretol) may alter the metabolism of thyroxine by the liver. Because of this, the dose of thyroxine may require to be altered if these are started or stopped in a patient controlled on thyroxine. This also applies

My story!
1:- On 7th June 2008 I had gone out for the night with a mate from work, to the annual dinner of my Ruby Club. We were both fire-fighters. We got changed and left straight from work at 19.00ish. A good night was had by all, but unfortunately I only have others account of this. Austin Healey was the guest

Does anybody suffer with throbbing in arms/legs/feet & really achy muscles all over ?
I've had hypothyroidism & fibromyalgia for 13yrs & take 125mg levo. I seem to go through stages when my muscles are really painful & I get awful throbbing all over/heavy headaches. I was wondering if perhaps my dosage of levo caused this (too much/too low) - had blood test last week which was ok (although

Still struggling with what type of epilepsy my 9year old son has!
Hi all, well I posted in November that they found my son had very abnormal EEG and neuro diagnosed Absence seizures. He started on Epilim, but 2 months later, his hallicinations increased and he started with "black" things (he lost vision for about 30 secs and felt like he was in an earthquake). Also

Hi, my 7 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with silent or Rolandic epilepsy and ADD. Does anyone else have a child with this?
She is on 200mg Epilim every 12 hours, but how soon can we expect to see improvement in her concentration. And why does my child not display the characteristics of Rolandic epilepsy like tingling sensation in mouth, drooling and facial paralyses? Her EEG showed that she had 4 seizures in 21 minutes

My second child is nearly due so it's time to reflect on my PP and hope it doesn't happen again.
My second child is due next week after having PP in 2011 with my first. With the possibility of a re-occurrence I have been reflecting on this episode and feel it would be a good thing to write down my experience. (It is a long account so thanks if you manage to read it all) I am in the process of deciding

Epilepsy week and youth month
17-23 June 2013 is Epilepsy Week and the week incorporates 21 June which is Epilepsy Day. We are therefore called upon to give attention to matters related to this neurological disorder which, according to scientific health research, happens to affect one percent (1%) of the population in South Africa

I've been diagnosed with epilepsy 12 months ago and was put on epilim chrono. I've had 3 or 4 seizures since and I am wondering if the tablets are suiting me. Also can I travel alone if I have a medical bracelet on?
