I have had Atrial Fibrillation for over 30 years. I have a pacemaker fitted and have been offered a procedure called Ablate and Pace I wondered if anyone has had it and what their experiences are.

6 months post ablation
First of all I want to say thank you so much for this wonderful support group. It has really reassured us when we have been unsure about symptoms and treatment for AF. My husband is 59 and had a catheter ablation in March 2023 for paroxysmal AF. He's off all his meds and apart from sporadic AF in the

AV node ablation after pacemaker implantation
Is it normal to be short of breath after 2 months of AV node ablation and pacemaker implantation? Any comment would be much appreciated, thanks.

Exercise and AF
Hi everyone, I am reaching out for advice around exercise and having the condition of atrial fibrillation I am 35 and was diagnosed with AF last year. I underwent a electrophysiological study as I have an accessory pathway and they wanted to see if that was causing my AF. Long and short of it is that

Pace Maker with Rate Response
What has been the experience of others with a pacemaker with Rate Response? My heart rate increases rapidly when I go from resting 70 bpm to getting up and moving around which makes me feel like my heart is pounding and I"m out of breath. I've had many adjustments with no change really. I have an

Cardiac Ablation Looks Successful!
I was diagnosed with Paroxysmal Afib in April of 2022. During my annual physical my PCP heard what he thought was a murmur, and called in a consult. After testing the afib was confirmed. I never noticed it, but started monitoring with a smartwatch and began to feel the episodes as they progressed. This

Distended stomach & abdomen after ablation
Bit of a strange one this, so thought I'd ask if anyone else has had a similar experience and a diagnosis. I had my 2nd catheter ablation 4 days ago under Gen Aanaesthetic; the ablation, plus cardioversion, seems to have gone well (allowing for it being very early days) and the groin wound is healing

Catheter ablation for PAF
Just realised that I had posted this update in the BHF site rather than the AF Association. So I'm posting this post ablation from Tuesday 8 August. Hi all. I promised an update and here it is to hopefully put others' minds at rest if you haven't had one yet. I had my catheter RF ablation yesterday

stopping sotalol
I have been waiting for a catheter ablation for over a year.I now have an appointment on 20th September at Glenfield Hospital in Leicester. I went to my pre-assessment yesterday (3rd time lucky. It’s been cancelled twice) They told me I have to stop the Sotalol for 2 days and as I ‘m on quite a high

Ablation trade off?
I’ve had continuous AF for about 5 years. I’m on pradaxa and had a cardioversion last year that didn’t help. I haven’t been on any AF meds but am scheduled for a catheter ablation in two weeks. I’m still very active and don’t notice the AF much except for some general tiredness. Since ablation destroys

I have been taking dronedarone for 4 years for paroxysmal af. At first it worked very well but now I go into AF about once a week. My last annual check was 400 af episodes which was a shock as I was not aware of that many. I have a pacemaker as my heart rate was too slow . It has been fixed at 61. An

Ablation of AV node after pacemaker put on in July
Well, I have finally had the AV node Ablation, after having the pacemaker placed in July. Now I don’t get arrhythmia anymore but very fast pulsations and low rates, always around the 80s and at rest 75. Guess the pm needs to adjust to a more acceptable pace. Waiting to see. Any ideas, please. Thanks

afib ablation question
hey everyone, recently a family member had a catheter ablation done. They fixed 4 areas and a flutter. back story: has had afib for 2 years and is 63. Had cardioversion done the beginning of this year and it worked for 5 days then back in afib. Had ablation done 2 weeks and 5 days ago. He just went

Atrial Fibrillation medication
Hi, I’m not sure how to proceed here. I’m just hoping someone else feels as frustrated as I do. I was told when I was diagnosed with AF over a year ago that I would be able to live a normal life. It wouldn’t impact on me and everything would carry on as usual. I haven’t found that to be true. My irregular

AV Node Ablation and Medication
A few days ago I posted a query concerning the procedure re medication following an AV node abalation because, having made enquiries, I couldn't get a definitive answer as to what should be happening about coming off or reducing Sotalol. I had an appointment with the Pacemaker Clinic for last Friday

AV Node Ablation
Does anyone know the normal procedure following an AV Node ablation? I had this procedure done on 6 October and I have an appointment next Friday at the Pacemaker Clinic for my PM to be re-programed to 70 bpm and then 4 weeks later reduced again to 60 bpm. What I want to know is when and how I can reduce

Catheter ablation - information video
Wish I’d seen this before I had an ablation last week. It’s highly informative about the entire process, the equipment that’s used and potential outcomes. If I had watched this I may have felt a little less daunted by the amount of huge screens and equipment in the cath lab and the sheer number

AV node ablation with Pasmaker
Has anyone up there is surviving and how long since your AV node ablation and PM insertion? On July 28th I had put the PM in, and my EP doctor told me that in August I would have the Ablation. But his nurse said that the Doctor forgot to tell her to put me in the list for the Ablation procedure. I'm
