Coming off Rivaroxaban for three days Worried about stroke
At my hospital appointment Dr advised me to come off Rivaroxaban for 3 days to see if my diarrhoea stopped to be able to check if Rivaroxaban was the cause of it. If it was the cause then change to apixaban dto see if it suits me better. I have been up 4 times during the night so have decided to stop

New here
Iv had a CT scan - clear,
Echocardiogram
- clear, just had MRI last week and booked in for EP Tests mid march. I've read up loads on AF and still trying to get my head round it all - could be hundreds of things causing it.

AF a complete surprise
This resulted in AF diagnosis, prescription of Bisopol 2.5mg, and follow up appointment to another local surgery for an
echocardiogram
. This Dr then increased Bisoprol to 5mg and I am to attend a local hospitals Anticoagulant Clinic for prescription of Warfarin this week.

Here we go
Today I had my
Echocardiogram
where I got an unwanted surprise. I was told that one of my atrium is larger than the other meaning that Cardioversions may not keep me in sinus rhythm for long. First one was late November last year followed by my second on 4th Jan, just 6 weeks later.

Some good news!!
In July, I had an
echocardiogram
which indicated my heart was in fairly good shape. As far as I knew, I had not had the condition for very long, but could not be sure. Early in September I had a cardioversion and I am pleased to say that I am still in Sinus Rhythm.

Still no sign of a cardiologist
The
echocardiogram
shows normal biventricular systolic functions. I believe she is on Bisoprolol 5mg bd and Diltiazem 120mg RD od. We need to increase this further.........we need to increase the dose of Diltiazem and possibly even reintroduce a dose of Digoxin.....'.

Update from EP Visit
OK results first, no surprises in the 24 hour halter, persistent AF no real change over the day, plus also good news no noticeable enlargement of the left atria from the
echocardiogram
, still enlarged, but not increased.

heart enlargement?
Should all AF sufferers have a yearly
echocardiogram
even if symptoms have not worsened? Thanks.

Hi Healthunlockeders, Has anyone had a 'cardiopulmonary exercise test' cause Dall's on the torture bike this afternoon.
He arranged an
echocardiogram
and a cardiopulmonary exercise test, I had the echo a while back but this afternoon I have the exercise test. Never had this one before but it sounds as though I'm to be wired up to a few machines and put on an exercise bike.

Bradycardia, abnormal ECG results
I realise it's slightly vague but I now have to sit tight and wait for an
echocardiogram
and a 24hr ecg and I have absolutely no idea what they are even worried about. I didn't think bradycardia was anything to worry about. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Interesting 24 hours
I'm now waiting for and appointment with cardiology for an
echocardiogram
and a 24 hour ECG monitor. Frightening, but at last I feel that my heart problems are be properly investigated, rather thN being fobbed off with being told that I should expect to have rapid heart beat on steroids.

RE:recent posts triggers and ectopics...
This ‘substrate’ is caused by many types of heart disease and is detectable on tests such as an
echocardiogram
as enlarged atria. If a patient’s heart is sufficiently abnormal then the substrate may allow the AF to be sustained without any need for the triggers described above.

Episode 5
I'm 47 Also, before the chemical cardioversion attempt I had an
Echocardiogram
when I was told my heart wall had thickened BUT the doctor did say that this could be reversed if i could get my blood pressure controlled better. What are others people's experience of this?

Echocardiogram Results
I was diagnosed with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation in September and had an
echocardiogram
at the end of October. I have just received a copy of the results which mentions 'a moderately dilated left atrium' and 'mild-to-moderate aortic regurgitation'.
