Pain post SBRT
Completed 6 cycles of
docetaxel
4 wks ago. Started SBRT yesterday. My side effects thus far were all expected and I was prepared for them. Last night had severe back pain (8 out of 10) which lasted for 3-4 hours. It was not cardiac or bone pain per se'.

Zytiga vs Nubeqa for Triple Therapy
I've consulted with 3 oncologist and all recommend triple therapy: Lupron alongside 6 rounds of
Docetaxel
, plus an ARPI. While two oncologists recommend Nubeqa, one strongly advocates for Zytiga instead.

Hair Loss
My husband (David) is beginning to lose some of his hair from Chemo treatment do all patients lose their hair on
docetaxel
(taxotere). It is falling out in a lot of strains when he showers. Do all patients on this chemo lose all their hair or does it just get thinner.

Triplet and now Radiation?
Just completed 6 sessions of chemo with
Docetaxel
. Got call from RO yesterday and they want to do radiation now. Of course I trust my medical team but curious of HU opinions on this path.

How many treatments of Chemo can the body handle
I have had 7 cycles of
docetaxel
and 3 of cabazitaxel. The oncologist wants to continue with another 7 cycles of cabazitaxel. My question is how much of this poison can the body handle. Does this chemo destroy things permanently in the body. I know that the fatigue is taking over.

Following SOC here in BC Canada
Started with ADT and
Docetaxel
. Was able to be castrate sensitive for 4.5 years. Tried to add Abiraterone and it failed after a couple of months. Had Radium 223 and it was okay but did nothing to the PSA. Cancer kept progressing and had to get targeted radiation to painful spots on ribs.

No more enzalutamide: docetaxel next up
Also got a new lesion in my thoracic spine so in addition to
docetaxel
, a single dose of radiotherapy. Hope that will all be underway within a couple of weeks. Some fear for a while about the meds not working and progression but feeling more confident about the treatment plan now thankfully.

rising PSA and 'light' advancement of mets in hip bones. Diagnosed stage 4 in March 2021.
George at Duke March of 2023 and he had my husband on a round of
docetaxel
. After that the many bone mets and some on lungs 'disappeared'. Now it looks like they are starting to grow back. The PSA is not yet doubling since a couple months ago, but it's on the rise. Dr.

Divergent second opinion
He doesn't think that
Docetaxel
is warranted right now unless the genomic test on the biopsy tissue shows high risk markers. He also recommends radiating the prostate plus SBRT to the pelvis mets and to keep chemo as an option for later if needed.

Docetaxel - how many rounds did you have?
Our oncologist has had people on
Docetaxel
for a year and a half. I'm wondering how long we might expect this treatment to be doable. Thanks, guys and gals - I read these posts daily and pray for you often.

Wait or start docetaxel?
MO suggested DORA Clinical trial (everyone gets
docetaxel
, half get radium) but the head of a trial I was previously in at NIH feels that unless a CT or Tc99 scan supports the findings of the PSMA scan I can wait, as long as I have a scan every 3 months.

Chemo Failed
My dad finished
Docetaxel
in November. He went to oncologist today. His PSA went from 0.58 to 2.3. Things he tried: Lupron (on for years before failed) Zytiga (worked for 18 months) Orchidectomy Then the chemo. He is not a candidate for radiation because of a previous cancer.

What next after Docetaxel...?
On 4/19/23 I was seen by the trial MO to confirm the previous recommendation of 10 sessions of of
Docetaxel
after the new liquid biopsy confirmed the first one with no mutations. Meanwhile, the PSA has risen to 115 before a kidney issue and to about 350 just before Chemo.
