My partner's story
Hello to everyone, I've been a silent member of this group for a few weeks and I have found your posts really helpful. I have decided that now is the time to share with you the story so far with my partner and his diagnosis of alcohol related liver disease. He's 43 years old and he's been a daily drinker

Feeling a bit sad and down
I'm having one of those moments when I'd love to reach out and say I'm feeling a bit low - but reality is I don't know who to ring/don't like to bother folks/my husband hates fuss!!! Today he came home from work at 1, having only gone in at 10, he's fast asleep on the sofa again. I know we are lucky

Fibroscan results today
I finally received my Fibroscan results from the hepatolgist. The KPA was very low and the CAP was very high. The doctor said F0 on the KPA. He told me the CAP just tells us there is fat in your liver which we already knew. He did not mention percentage of fat. He said the fat is not causing any issues

Does liver effect your hair
Just a question Does fatty liver have any effect on hair. I feel my hair is really thinning to a worrying degree. Not sure if allowed to use Manoxidil (Regaine) the only topical scalp medication that dr recommends. As it’s only applied to scalp not digested, but not sure if I can use it.

NAFLD online calculator
How accurate is the NAFLD online calculator? Did anyone use this tool and found it to be fairly accurate after receiving test results from your doctor? I am finally getting my Fibroscan results tomorrow (after 6 weeks) and my anxiety is kicking in. I contacted the nurse about a month ago via email and

Deranged bloods, no fatty liver no fibrosis
A little further down my road of tests, in summary I have no symptoms but it all started with a cholesterol test of 8.9, gp said it could be liver related as it’s too high to be diet. Had liver bloods and ALT was high at 150. Repeat test and ALT was 350.Refer to liver specialist, just had ultrasound

Not long now.
I have Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (Decompensated). Looks like I'm coming to the end of my journey in life. On being diagnosed in July, my decent has been rapid. More & more of the end stage symptoms are showing. I thought maybe I'd have a couple of years to see if I could halt the damage & maybe

Has any one experienced trigger / worsening of psoriasis caused by carvedilol?
Hi everyone. I am diagnosed with Non Cirrhotic Portal Hypertension with Esophageal Varices. Along with EVL, the doctors have put me on beta blockers (Carvedilol). I am on this medicine for last three years. Since last 5 months my Psoriasis, which was in remission for many years, has gone in flare. Has

Here Again
I tried so hard to be positive. I stayed away cos I thought it was making my hypochondria worse but here I am. New bloods done and dr said all satisfactory. Picked a copy up today and bloods like ALT and GtGamma are the same as they were back in Feb. So I’m Feb, April and June dr wasn’t happy with them

Hepatic encephalopathy, Auto brewery syndrome, feeling drunk, waking up with a hangover
Hi all I was diagnosed with ARLD around 7 months ago, I’m recently out of hospital about a month ago. Since then my life has been chaos, losing my job, many friends and even some family due to this disease I believe. My uncle even died of liver disease. At the wake of his funeral is where this began,

Hyperreflexia
I would love to hear others' experience with hyperreflexia as result of PA. I have periods (often in the last days before my injection), when I get low-level random muscle twitches, mostly in my arms and back, then they subside. I have been found to be hyperreflexive in reflex tests since my PA diagnosis

Spider Angioma?
Hi there - What might this be? I've had this kind of mark on my abdomen for many years (since I used to live in West Africa) but recently it looks to be getting more pronounced or "longer" across my abdomen (horizontal). After I shower or work out, it seems like the vein-aspect goes away and its just

Ultrasound of liver....sit upright for last part of scan
As the title says in for my yearly US of liver. Usually i go for the scan and lay on my back and both sides while scan is done. This time, at the end, i was asked to sit upright off the side of the bed while my sonographer scanned the liver area, while i sat there. Does anyone know the reason for scanning

Update to my 10.1 elf
From previous post where dr wouldn't do scan as elf was under 10.5, which nice guidelines do state, but my concern was my drs think anything upto 10.5 is completely normal range with no other references, I did book a private ultrasound last week which showed nothing at all with my liver not even any
