Dialysis or supportive care
Although not needing
dialysis
yet my kidney team has been providing me with great info on
dialysis
and supportive non
dialysis
. At this point, I am leaning toward non
dialysis
. I am wondering if anyone in this forum has chosen this route.

I'm new to all this - Holidays doing PD
My husband has just started peritoneal
dialysis
. We hope to have a holiday in France next year but I feel concerned in case he gets an infection and needs to go to hospital. Can anyone recommend a good travel insurance company?

Dialysis Unit Too Cold
My husband has been on
dialysis
for 21 years and it didn’t just happen, it came from doing what was right and listening to his body. He knows when he has infections on board and the doctors listen to him and treat him for it before it gets worse.

I need my bestfriend to live love an laugh
My best friend is on home
dialysis
an has been for 2 1/2 years. She needs a transplant but we really dont know how to go about making that happen for her. We know someone that said they would donate to her but there is always something stopping that from happening.

Big thank you
I am overwhelmed at the response to my question re
dialysis
or supportive care. The sharing you all did re your personal situations was inspiring and thought provoking. What a generous community.

Peritoneal Dialysis & insomnia
By the time I hadn't slept properly for weeks and was feeling terrible,I eventually both my consulted my GP & Nephroligist who both acknowledged that sleeplessness was not an unusual side effect of
dialysis
.

I meant to say I am not on

dialysis
? And how do you cope?

Gabapentin a nightmare drug!
I am a renal patient with only 8% kidney function who went onto PD
Dialysis
in April 2020 but it was a disaster!. Apart from peritonitis I also developed nephropathy in my feet for which I was prescribed the drug gabapentin (only 100 mg per day) for the pain. This immediately made me feel dizzy.

2 months in; still fighting but her doctors want to stop treatment
We pushed for them to continue
dialysis
, and finally after nearly 7 days without it, she had
dialysis
again.

New to this
He just started
dialysis
at home this week and is really struggling emotionally. I'm encouraging him to get on one of these groups, talk to others and thought I'd lead by example. Him struggling is hard to see and hard to live with on top of everything going on in the world right now.

Peritoneal vs Incenter Nocturnal Dialysis
If I do not get a transplant first, I may have to choose a method of
dialysis
. My doctor recommends peritoneal but I'm attracted to incenter nocturnal
dialysis
. Does anyone have information on how each compares in regards to how the recipient feels generally from each?

Its my turn to worry now
I am still a ways from the point of
dialysis
but I really want to see if it was the test, the lack of fluids from doing it in the morning or what. I need a good food tracker that includes protein, potassium and phosphorous, glucose and sodium.

New to Stage 4 CKD
If that's the case, shouldn't they be looking towards
dialysis
? Also, they want to implant a defribulator for my heart. I'm tired of feeling sick and being depressed. I am new to all this and don't know what to do.
