who wants to see links to "spinal cord excitability" in people with RLS?? :) putting it here instead of in the 48 responses on "Dopamine"
I am putting the links here, so they do not get buried in that question and all the responses under the "Dopamine" question. 1. "Excitability of Spinal Flexor Reflex" www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/10762502 2. "Reflex Testing Reveals Circadian variation of Spinal Excitability in RLS Patients

Positive thinking increases Dopamines' power for PWPs!
I was listening to a lecture by a psychologist named Shawn Achor. And he states that in people with a positive or happy outlook on life, scientists are finding that their brains have an over abundant supply of Dopamine. Shawn believes that the positive thinking traits generate more Dopamine, which in

Green tea fights off depression
Just thought to share this with you all Apparently it say that if you drinking few cups of green tea that would help/reduced depression! I'm drinking one (organic tick tock) right now with squeeze of lovely thyme honey! Delicious! :-) In analyzing data on the study members, the scientists found

My Pd meds sent me to HELL for 6 years, I believe drug companies know about this, I took part in tests during and after and again this year!
Parkinson's Impulse Disorders May Be Drug-Related 12 Jan 2013 A new study finds that untreated Parkinson's disease patients are no more likely to have impulse control disorders like gambling and impulse buying, than people without the disease. The researchers say their evidence is the strongest

New breakthrough, skin cells to brain cells, with implications for PD
A research team at UC-San Diego anounced yesterday that they have invented a shortcut for turning skin cells into brain cells, a process that holds promise in the treating of Parkinson's. The team created neurons from skin cells by blocking production of a single protein. The method bypasses existing

New finding Pesticides linked to PD found. And if you smoke pot1980s they sprayed Paraquat to kill plants !
Jan. 3, 2013 — For several years, neurologists at UCLA have been building a case that a link exists between pesticides and Parkinson's disease. To date, paraquat, maneb and ziram -- common chemicals sprayed in California's Central Valley and elsewhere -- have been tied to increases in the disease, not

What caused my Parkinson's
My family Doctor gave me a test and found out I was positive for the C677T mutation and normal for the A1298C mutation in the MTHFR gene. This genotype occurs in 1.5-15% of the population and is associated with increased plasma homocysteine levels, a risk factor for arteriosclerotic coronary artery

My restless legs explained
I am still very poorly after a long stint of anemia messing with my physiology, however it wasn't diagnosed till last minute and all systems were going down :(. I have hashimoto's disease, i take thyroid hormones. But even your ''own thyroid produced' hormones can 'pool' with iron deficiency, mine did

In Spite of Myself
I have pd now for ten years. During the first years, and seeing that the disease is spreading rapidly, I wanted to make a statement about who I am. In spite of myself and my pd, i took up tennis passionately and actually became better at it to the point where I was as good as some of the best in the

Anyone trying LDN or interested in it?
I have recently had an appointment with my neurologist and, as expected, he told me basically that the only way to achieve a reasonable quality of life into the future is to have DBS surgery. He spoke of the risks, that not everyone is suitable etc etc. And that was it. DBS or continue to steadily decline

Hellish Night
It is 2.40 a.m. and as yet have had no sleep. The Tamazepen tablets are finished and I have nothing to replace them with yet (seeing G.P. in the morning). I took a cocktail of stuff before I went to bed in hopes of a little sleep. 5m.g. Melatonin. 4 Nytol (the stronger sort) and Two soluble co-codomol

"Too skinny" . . Protein - Good or Bad?
I have read that PD patients should eat a low protein diet to help w/ the dopamine levels in the body. Is this the same for 'protein supplements'? How about 'Whey' protein? I'm looking to add some weight, I've lost 12 pounds of muscle.
